I think the confusion and debate regarding both Tito and Margarito is really summed up with a very simple explanation...

Both Puerto Ricans and Mexicans are not very smart...Im lucky enough to be a white guy and have the luxory of sitting back and watching the two groups play ****** against one another.

All your statements are based on biased speculations.."They hurried" you dont know anything about the pace they wrapped...lol Nor do we know the pace that Margarito wrapped....As for the inspectors...their just as crooked...they passed one of Margaritos before Naz complained about the substance. That tells you that Margarito probably did this his whole career.
No matter how far you go back in history to find someone as bad of a scumbag as Margarito and his trainer....he will still be guilty in front of the world.

We do know that Tito had his LEFT glove already wrapped before the officials arrived..

That's dirty corrupt bull****..that's the kind of **** that hurts the sport.

We also know Tito threatened to bail when they MADE him take that illegal rigging off his hand.

Tito had an ILLEGAL pad made from layer upon layer of COMPRESSED taped and Gauve..He also had tape directly on his knuckles..that's ILLEGAL.

The lil ***** got busted them BEAT DOWN..Just like Margarito.

Like Trinidad..Margarito will never be the same after that ass-stomping.

Oh well ..lmao aside from a few disgruntled (certain Latino group)...I guarantee Margarito will go down in history, in history books, and on the record as a cheater, while a few (certain latino group) will say "Trinidad did it too")....no matter how much you try and make it out to be the same.

The reason you don't get it is because you don't want to get it (and you obvioulsy hate Mexicans, and to top it off, you're pro-Puerto Rican, so you'll never be convinced of anything but what you already want to think).

Some people are saying it's the same because Margarito's wraps are described as "plaster-like" while Tito's were described as "cast-like." Plaster is what you use to make casts, same ****ing thing.

The thing that throws people off is that there was a substance found on Marg's wraps while Tito supposedly only had extra gauze. A substance is automatically illegal. But what people are saying about Trinidad is not so much what it was (gauze and tape) but HOW it was wrapped. I'm no expert (and if someone who really wraps hands speaks up and clarifies **** that would be great), but people say that the tape directly on the hands (the skin) is what causes damages (it makes it easier to cut your opponent). This is what Tito is supposedly charged with: having tape directly on the hands, plus extra gauze. Then when his hands sweat (a legal substance) into the tape and gauze it made his wraps harder... like into a cast (which again casts are made of plaster).

People keep saying all it was on Trinidad's wraps was extra gauze. Well, first of all, extra protection on your hands is still not fair because boxers break their hands. If you break your hand in a fight, you're ****ed. Also, if it was "just extra gauze," then you're gonna need more tape too. It's just not extra gauze by itself.

Then people say, "Well, there was no evidence confiscated with Tito." Because it was tape and gauze. What kind of evidence is that to show a commission? Some cut tape and gauze... I guess you could measure it or something to deem it legal or not, but it's not gonna carry the weight of finding "plaster."

I don't expect to change your mind, I'm just answering your question.

                    It's simple, really.

                    Mexicans hate Puerto Ricans.

So there big star got caught cheating and want to bring Puerto Ricans down with Trinidad but never know the facts.

                    Just like Margarito, they FAIL.

Everybody except, Naseem Richardson, the guy who called Tito on it in the first place.

“Same thing with Tito’s hands,’’ said Richardson, then Hopkins’ trainer. “This plastic-like substance fell out from behind the gauze on Tito’s hands."

You make some good points in this argument as well, except in your very last statement, I would change it to "plaster like" substance like the rest of the media.

As of yet, it still hasn't been determined what it really is.

However, that doesn't mean I condone the actions either. The one thing I'm sure of, is that it was there, but did Tony really know? or not?

Either way, I can't really stick up much for his case.

To answer the original question, the wraps themselves were not the same, but the reasoning for the use of illegal wraps was the same. Whether Tito and his camp were punished or questioned accordingly isn't really a matter since the fact remains, his wraps were called into question, and his camp held fast in their refusal to not re-wrap when the illegalilty was initially found. Finally, he did re-wrap and fight, and just like in Margaritos case, was unable to land any significant, damaging blows.

As a person who enjoyed Margaritos rise to the top, its painful to see how its all in question now. It taints the sport and nobody will ever really know how long its been going on. If he can come back and win some fights against high level competition again, he can restore some of his image. But at this stage of his career, and with his style catching up to him, I honestly don't think it can happen.
