Comparing Corrales-Castillo II to Nate's performance tonight

I agree, for the amount these fighters make... make the weight... Nate seemed pretty genuine in his apology though... just don't do it again.maybe in Nate's case being in shape would have led to the same result as he won more rounds but didn't score the knockdowns. maybe he would have won anyway, but the point is make weight. that's all I'm asking from fighters.
if boxing is your job, take it seriously and stay in shape all year round. stay around your fighting way like Mayweather, Hopkins, and the other greats did and still do. don't show up to camp having to lose 10 pounds. that's a crock of **** and shows you don't take your career seriously. you only fight twice a year anyway. stay in shape all the time and you can fight three times and increase your yearly earnings by 1/3. failing to make weight is never, ever an excuse. not when guys like B-Hop do it to perfection at age 43.Comment

I'd say that's the case in most weight classes but when you're fighting at 135 pounds, 3 pounds is everything. just look at Castillo-Corrales II. it was NOTHING like the first fight. Castillo was shaking him up with every punchBut the whole point of my post is, you're not necessarily bringing more knockout power being 3 pounds heavier but dehydrated to the max compared to being 3 pounds lighter but in shape and healthy...
I'd like I can punch harder when and with more force and speed, if I'm in shape and healthy compared to being dehydrated and spent, but with 3 extra pounds on me...Comment

Most fighters are in the 5-10 pound area when in shape. Hopkins said he weighed 182/183 the other day and he makes 175, so that's almost 10 pounds. It more if he weighed that and had to make 170maybe in Nate's case being in shape would have led to the same result as he won more rounds but didn't score the knockdowns. maybe he would have won anyway, but the point is make weight. that's all I'm asking from fighters.

well, may he rest in peace, but I stopped supporting Corrales when he failed to make weight. I still cheered for him but I sure as hell didn't stick up for him after that if something bad was said about him. you lose that right when you screw up.
if you can't make weight, then get to a weight class where you can and stop trying to pick on little guysComment

I just feel like the extent of the dehydration equals out the 3 pound weight advantage... nate seemed to look it too...Comment

but Nate's saying the week of the fight he's always about 4-5 pounds heavy at the top of the week. that's just bull**** in my book. by fight week, you should be right there, 1 pound or 2 off, but 4-5 is absurd. I doubt any of you play with your careers like that. if your boss demands you be in at 8:00 every day for one week, I doubt any of you show up at 9:00 or 10:00 without damn good excuses.Comment

I hear you... Ill still support Nate... I was let down to hear it, but when I hear how he responded to it... It sounded genuine.... like everything went according to plan and then all the sudden he just couldnt take it off... I'm not excusing it, it should never happen.... I think they should have a rematch. If anything Funeka worked for it... and Nate should give it to him because of the weight.well, may he rest in peace, but I stopped supporting Corrales when he failed to make weight. I still cheered for him but I sure as hell didn't stick up for him after that if something bad was said about him. you lose that right when you screw up.

Although nate says he just can't make 135 anymore, so who knows...Comment

I think a better example is, if your Boss demands you to be there by 8... dont leave your house at 755....but Nate's saying the week of the fight he's always about 4-5 pounds heavy at the top of the week. that's just bull**** in my book. by fight week, you should be right there, 1 pound or 2 off, but 4-5 is absurd.
