Statement from Team Campbell

Another thing I want to add, Nate Campbell deserves respect for wanting to fight the best, but claiming that he is going to be ducked and no fighters want a piece of him when in reality coudln't have made the weight for that fight he wanted anyway is ******.Comment

LOL, ha, ha, ha.....Soupy will never bring a huge payday to another fighter unless he has a belt. Those boys at 140 are like vultures and they will feed off his flesh.Comment

You sound like you're butthurt when you talk about Nate. Did he offend you in any way in your past life? Enlighten us please...Comment

But you posted the "They are going to duck him" yesterday, but yet he had problems making weight? No offense, but that makes you seem like a huge douche if you knew he had weight problems, but yet expected Nate to make weight for a fight if it actually had come off instead of if they "ducked him"
The point is the last day or 2 a few anxious moments are not uncommon. Nate hasnt had a weight issue since the Lorenzo fight, and up until this afternoon I had no reason to think he wasnt going to ultmately make weight. Might take a few tries, but ultimately make weight. Its never pleasant. Its always tough, but he never hit a wall like this since 05 when he was still trying to make 130.Comment

I am not a doctor, a trainer, or a nutritionist. Yesterday, when we discussed the weight, Nate was confident that he would make it. John David and Jimmy Waldrop were in control, and I trust their abilities and dont tell them how to do their jobs. They did everything they could. They had Nate up at 6am this morning going to the steam room. Nate's body just did not cooperate. Nothing anyone could do about it. If the weight wont come off, it wont come off. At 36, Nate's body had other plans.

Also....why do the hell do you list Khan-Barrera first? Was that really the next possible fight you guys were going to look into?Comment

I know Nate is full of air when he talks, that's probably why he didn't make weight in the first place anyway (sic), but he's a damn good fighter in my book. Entertaining to a fault (Peden fight), and masterclass in the next (Diaz fight), but I beg to disagree when you put Nate's name in the same sentence with Margo. I hate cheaters, and I felt Margo got a slap in the wrist with that BS one year revocation of license, with a chance to renew after a year. If a pro athlete intends to injure, maim, or even kill a fellow athlete, it is not sooo cool...Comment

Nate Campbell will be a one hit wonder. It was a great night for him. I tip my hat off. He went in and pulled off the huge upset against Juan Diaz.
He talked a great game but its a shame he wont be able to continue at lightweight. He had a great career considering he came from almost nothing. Great inspirational story to all those who want to start boxing late.Comment
