Holloway Reflects on Fateful Margarito Sparring Session

First of all. Have you ever put on a pair of boxing gloves yourself? Have you ever sparred anyone? I'm not talking about you playing around with your neighborhood friends. I mean real sparring. In a real gym. Preparing for a real fight? For real money? Ever?

Think about it. Totally putting aside who this is about. Think about if you're going to do something like load your gloves up, don't you think you should try them out before going into a real fight? Let alone a title fight?
As I've said here before I've known Rashad personally for years. He's not the type to make anything up. Especially since this is his livelihood, and he was getting paid to spar. Also he was very fond of Margarito, and his entire team. Rashad told me something wasn't right about all of this way before Margarito fought Mosley.
This is not new news. It's just new to you because there was finally an article on it.

I think it makes sense that if you were a baseball player and you were going to cork your bat in a big game, it would make sense to try it out once in batting practice.. You wouldn't be using the corked bat in batting practice because you need to blast homeruns and impress a few early fans. You'd be using the corked bat b/c you wanted to try it out and be comfortable with it so you could be prepared to blast homeruns during the actual game. I think that pretty much sums up the only reason Margarito might potentially use loaded wraps in a sparring session. It makes perfect sense if it's true.

I dont see why "IF" he does wrap his hands illegal, Why he would do it in sparring... I think holloway just got hit with a good leftupper cut at the perfect angle and he was unlucky. But by putting this story out he just put Tony deeper in a hole.

Reading through all the post in here makes me feel bad about what's going on with boxing. And me thinking 3 years ago that it's unfair for Margarito that most of the fighters are avoiding him because he's too much of a risk.

Jokes were made about this issue... and laughed at, but if ever Margarito and his camp is found guilty by Feb 10, the only ones who would still be laughing about this are the people who hates Margarito. I just wish fair justice be served to those who really committed this shameful act.

If they are sparring they are using sparring gloves which are not 8oz gloves that you would use in a fight. I know Cotto did it to mallinaggi or they did it to dlh but that was during a fight using regular gloves not sparring gloves. Sparring gloves are 16oz if i remember correctly.

I will like nothing more than to give Maragrito the benefit of the doubt, as I am a fan of the boxer I have come to respect for his relentlessness, durability and punching power a excellent representation of a Mexican Fighter as it seemed Margarito would of held court as this generation version of Chavez. However, as revelations begin to surface from sparring sessions to the ring witnessed by others in the sport and media and others who submit threads on boxingscene begin to share their thoughts it really does'nt look good for the Margarito camp going into Feb.10th the dots are connecting maybe not in a straight line with straight answers ,but they are connecting.

02/10/2009 could end up being a Huge day in boxing history! Hopefully it won't end in Margs humiliated and a royal cluster**** regarding his recent bouts.

He is done..

margarito knows that his wraps have been loaded all along. he should be banned from boxing, along with his trainer. it's a disgrace to him and his team. boxing needs to respond correctly. his victory over cotto should be ruled a no contest, all his victories are in question now.
