I agree with this being great but thats the achievement, not the opponent. Any middleweight winning a HW title is a great achievement.

But I dont see how anyone can say John Ruiz is anything other than ordinary......if that.

Thats your opinion, fact is he did. LOL!

      Hopkins > Ruiz

It's cause his hero beat him, he needs to make it sound a great win. Any boxing fan with half a brain knows its **** though.
Word man. Well you keep up the hating and go about your day. Most people will disagree with you but you are entitled to your opinion as well.

At the end of the day Jones will still be rated higher than Calzaghe in most boxing circles.

U lot, stop taking the piss out of ******s, he cant help it, his mother just drank a bit while she was pregnant with him thats all.
Kesslers power makes him a danger to any fighter, especialy one who can be knocked out...Like Roy.

I think i stated id pick Roy to UD him though....So get your facts right or STFU.

          5 years ago, yes.

Every year im seeing more and more people think Calzaghe was better though.

I have a feeling Calzaghe will be a lot more apreciated 10 years from now.

It's all opinion....Some will like Roy over Calzaghe and some will like Calzaghe over Roy.

Joe will probably go up yes but I think Roy will always be rated over Joe.

All i hear them say is "Calzaghe never beat a great fighter who was at the top of his game, Roy woulda knocked Calzaghe out easy if they fought 6 years earlier".

Ummmm.....Which great fighter was in his prime that Roy beat?

Dont give me Hopkins and dont give me Toney because that is complete and utter bull****. Toney was dead at 168 and Hopkins was green, still a novice.

I hear you say Calzaghe is the most overrated fighter in history....Well, i have to disagree with that...That title goes to Roy hands down! Roys the undisputed champion of overrated fighters.

The version of Hopkins that Calzaghe beat was a lot better than the version that Jones beat and if Kessler had been availible for Roy to fight then reluctant Roy would have avoided him like the plague.

Straight up haters are all some of you are......Ive stopped watching comedy and reading your posts to get my laughs.

Calzaghe goes through RJ's record unbeaten.
i like roy jones a lot more than joe but i dont think he would ever have beaten him prime or past it i just think roys style was a lot more enjoyable to watch and how he just fired killer punches from anywhere made him great to watch

Word, well then why dont you just state that rather than starting a hate thread about Roy?

Like you just said some people will prefer one or another. Doesnt make them dillusional unless they fail to realize that all 3 Hopkins, Calzaghe, and Roy were good.

I have a feeling at one point in all of their careers each could have beat each other if they caught them at the right time.

The thing is Roy was in the spotlight much more and put on SPECTACULAR shows and did stuff thats never been done before AND LOOKED GOOD doing it. Behind the back punch?

That is why he will be rated higher.

He didnt win split decisions, he knocked people the **** out.

Yeah cos Kessler's devastating power is proven against P4P elite fighters isn't it you **** jockey. He knocked out Haussler in 3, his power must be DEVASTATING!

Did roy jones get your mother up the duff or summin?

LMAO at you implying calazghe scraping a SD against a 43 year old hopkins is as good as an achievement as a fighter going from 160 all the way to heavyweight and winning a title.

I have to agree on this one, Gunner. I saw the same pattern with Lennox Lewis. LL used to get some serious ****, people saying he's a fraud (like.. ****ing wow!) but nowadays he's getting the props he deserves and is considered by many to be a top 10 ATG heavyweight. Opinions change over time, and haters eventually get bored of talking the same old ****, they'll just move onto someone else. **** 'em.
