Nigel Benn: "Calzaghe Beats Me, Hagler, Hearns, Sugar"

PSHHHH, the only person I think he could beat on that list wold be Sugar Ray Leonard, being that he was not as good at the higher weights. Calzaghe in NO WAY beats Hagler or Hearns.

Check my track record, I am not a Calzaghe hater, but he doesnt beat HAgler or Hearns, I could give him Benn, Duran and Leonard MAYBE, but no way he beats Hearns or Hagler.

I think it's actually very possible that Calzaghe could hustle his way to decision Hagler. Hagler did lose to a past his prime Leonard who fought only once in five years and never fought at middleweight. Calzaghe is bigger, fast enough and hits harder than Leonard at middleweight. Hagler had a lot of problems with an old Duran and Duran's best weight was 135-147. Hagler won a very close 15 round decision on Duran. It may have gone the other way if the fight was 12 rounds.

Hagler fought terribly that night against Ray. Also, you have to consider that Joe would not have fought Hagler in the way that Ray did, he would most likely have come at him and tried to pressure him. Marvin would have eaten that up IMO. Hagler's Duran fight is a strange one. It is almost like he totally went in there with the wrong game plan or something. I think Marvin beats Joe. He would have had the workrate to stick with him and I just think he would have ended up overwhelming him and getting a semi-comfortable decision.

It depends on which Calzaghe you are talking about. If you are talking about Calzaghe that fought Kessler, no, he does not hit harder than Leonard, he is a slapster. Marvin would have zero respect for those shots and walk him down.

I have a hard time believing a man who tasted canvas so easy by past it greats (who look like they'd be nightmares for Joe in their prime themselves) should be even looked past before bestowing wins on Cal against 80's greats.

Fighting a 43 year old Hopkins and a 39 year old Jones is one same level as fighting a Marvin Hagler.

What's the common ground in both cases though? Neither fighter had the young legs to keep up. Give Jones his speed back and give me even a 2007 version of Hopkins and he gets the decision.

Im am a fan of Joe, but honestly, Joe beat Lacy who is no a bum, Kessler who is not an A class fighter, Hopkins who many beleieved won the fight and is 44, and Jones who should have retired years ago, and now people think he could beat a prime SRL, Hernes, Duran, and Hagaler? GET REAL!!!!!!
