He is the best SMW of all time, he had 20 defenses, and was a champ fro 11 years. He went up in weight and beated the Lineal champ at LHW,who happends to be a AGT too, and he beated a ATG fighter in RJJ.

He is a HOF for sure, and he should be in the top 100 ATG. I rate him at 92

Just because he didnt fought enough in America, makes him less of a fighter. He beated who he needed to beat, i order to be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not the magazine, most people on here. You see what they say.

Almost every thread about Calzaghe, alot of Americans think nothing of him.

Jones and toney had 10 title fights at SMW between them.

            1+2 against each other.
            3. Toney Vs Barkley (30-7) Middleweight.
            4. Toney Vs Tony thornton (35-5) decent but never held a world title.
            5. RJJ Vs Tony thornton (37-6) Decent but never held a world title.
            6. Toney vs Charles Williams (36 -5 ) Light heavy that fought at SMW once.
            7. RJJ Vs Antoine Byrd (26-4) got KTFO by Brewer in 3 never held any world title
            8. RJJ Vs Vinny Pazienza (40-5) Decent fighter.
            9. RJJ Vs Eric Lucas (19-2) Decent fighter
            10. RJJ Vs Bryant brendon (16-0) Never held a world title.

Are you seriously saying that those two fighters deserve to be above Calzaghe based on THAT?

I don't like him but he had a good career. Not a lotta big names in his longass SMW title run, but he finished strong against younger unbeatens who were supposed to beat him. He beat Bhop, although closely, and he dogged RJ, just a few yrs too late to really get a lotta cred for it.

They deserve to be ahead of Calzaghe because they would both wipe the floor with him when they were in that weight division,

Joe didn't fight anyone great till he matched up with a 43 year old and a 40 year old. Far from great.

he stayed in his home country for over a decade fighting bums and journymen in a weak division that nobody cared about. then came to the US and got dropped in the first round by two 40 year olds before slapping his way to a decision. If thats not an ATG i dont know what is
