absolutely he caused hatton to lose. There were a number of times in the first three rounds where hatton caught mayweather with a solid shot to the face and was just about to follow it up only for cortez to jump in to protect mayweather and pull hatton away.

The yanks want to claim it as a great victory but the truth is, it was a fix, a setup and a horrible incidence of boxing corruption from a hometown ref. Ask ricky hatton

These are the type of nationalistic troll fans that this thread was aimed at. All Weebler sees is a Brit vs American but the truth is they are both just fighters. Your own commentators said Mayweather was just a class above Hatton but you on the other hand can't even imagine a scenario where Mayweather wins fairly and that is true ignorance. The most mind boggling thing is your scorecard that gives Hatton all the early rounds when you complain he isn't being allowed to fight his fight because of the ref. How come Ricky is nearly winning the fight when Cortez was screwing him over?

actually Cortez was widely criticised by the UK commentators, UK fighters (incl. David Haye and Lennox Lewis) and the UK press. It was clear what was happening, Cortez was jumping in to seperate the fighters because Floyd's camp had put pressure on all through the build-up bitching about referees, the Tszyu fight etc, Hatton never once mentioned referees or criticised Floyd's prior achievements. Then the girl Mayweather came out of the fight calling it a war, the guy never even seen a war, he'd have known war if Cortez wasn't pulling Hatton off him every two seconds.

And yeah Hatton won those early rounds, he made the fight happen but he could've done much more damage if not ended the contest had Cortez not blocked him NFL style.

does cortez have an ego that's far too big for a referee? yes. does cortez get overly involved in the action because of his ego? yes. did he lose the fight for hatton? no.

The gameplan of Hatton lunging chin in the clouds is the reason PBF was able to snipe him so easily. JMM would also have been excellent at picking off his chin like that. I'll be shocked if Senior allows Hatton to lunge like that at Pacquiao.

I think once Hatton gets frustrated he goes back to his old style because that's really all he knows, hence why I think Pacman is going to obliterate Hatton.

So because the UK commentators and press says the fighter from their country got robbed, that makes it a fact?

Did Cortez knock Hatton out? Did Cortez set up a check left hook?
Another thing, don't call Mayweather a girl, Hatton is one of my favorites and I'd hate to live with the fact that one of my boys got tag teamed by a chick and a ref.

Co sign this.. However, if it was Smoger who had a catch phrase I would like it. I just don't like it b/c his actions always contradict the fair part to some degree.. However, in this fight it wasn't Mayweather and not Cortez who caused the result.
