Of course he didn't cause him to lose. Whether he contributed to it or not is a matter of opinion. There is a clear ability gap there though. It would not have mattered who the ref was in the end. Floyd is just a level of two above Ricky.

cortez certainly didn't help. he was terrible!

hatton actually had the early rounds, but then the reff got him so frustrated. thats when maywheather took advantage. but still, hatton should learn not to get frustrated. i think hatton whens a rematch to mayweather if floyd mayweater SR. is his trainer.
