Referee Joe Cortez Fires Back at Juan Manuel Marquez

Cortez is a joke of a ref that should have retired years ago/or been fired already! He's one of the most inconsistent refs i have ever seen well mostly the last 8-10 years. i think old age has caught up to him and the man just needs to retire and go to a nursing home!

Funny how Cortez defends against the Marquez's accusations imediately but said nothing when it was harped on long and hard about him disrupting the Hatton-Mayweather fight. That alone should tell everyone there was foul play in that fight that night. Did Cortez land the punch that resulted in the eventual TKO of Hatton? No. Did he change the entire flow of the fight drastically lessening Hatton's chances? Absolutely.

This should serve as proof right here. Hatton haters beware.

hey juan manuel marquez, you should stop acting like a wuss and let cortez(a ref that makes you feel un-easy) ref your fight because Ch@mpBox@PR and trainhard_187 said so!

not to mention that he helped your ass out by not stopping the first pac fight after the 3rd kd...becuase we all know the 3rd kd rule was in effect and you looked completely out of it.

not to mention that taking a few minutes out of your life to give the media interviews completely distracts you from the Diaz fight.

Thankfull for what??? marquez wasn't seriously hurt just dropped 3 times he stood up right away. Well maybe if cortez would of dq pacquiao that was an intentional hit when marquez was down. The soto fight it wasn't intentional plus what the **** did you wanted soto to do when cortes went in to seperate lorenzo give him a breather then continue the fight, then went in as to stop the fight and let the fight continue again so that really shows you how he ****ed up and quickly made a decision not basing it on the poor job he was doing prior to the hit.

Is more embarassing that he won't admit his ****ing mistake and probably i could understand stopping the fight based on what he saw but how would he answer the questions as to interfering in and out as to stop the fight????

And when pacman did the same thing but clearly intentional he doesn't do **** not even a point deduction??? I'm sorry but I didn't knew rules was to favor a star.

Joe 'fair but firm' Cortez. This synaptically decapitated mollusc let a fighter (Lorenzo) bleeding in a corner, after a knockdown, and (yes 'AND') after a suspected blow to the head while already knocked down, for over five minutes, while having a disussion with the Nevada State Baboons (alleged 'officials'). The fight should have been stopped, Lorenzo off to see a doctor, argue the results later. Joe Cortez brings Boxing into disrepute and as such, should never officiate again. I would defend any boxer who objects to the use of such a mentally lumbering Cro Magnon. I have been firm, possibly unfair...but you know I'm right. Ding Ding!

Look high speed. After 3 Kds in a 1rst round. Any referee will stop a fight, even tho` theres a NO 3 KD rule.

Marquez got KD 3 times, he was really hurt after the second Kd, he had a bloody nose, plus he looked like he couldnt get away from Mannys left. thats enough to stop the fight.

About the Lorezo-Soto fight, Ofcourse Cortez needs to man up and admit that it was a mistake.

I agree with some posters here. JMM is a great fighter, but he bitches too much. He needs to suck it up, and fight. He should of said, that Cortez was inconsistence, or Whatever, but calling him pretty much a racist against Mexican is dumb. And if he were, aint Juan Diaz Mexican too??? As much as I admit that Cortez made a big mistake in the Lorenzo fight, I will say he referee the Hatton-PBF fight good. Hatton got KTFO, because he east left hands like bacon.

I will laugh my ass, if the new referee, makes a mistake, and that mistake ends up costing JMM the fight!!!!!!!!!!
