It's no secret that Marquez is my favorite fighter, but I don't like his reasoning for not wanting Cortez the more I look at it. If he just flat out said "I don't like the way he officiates" then it's fine but saying Cortez doesn't like Mexican fighters is childish. C'mon Juan. Besides, Cortez has a very valid point about his first fight with Pacquiao. He didn't have to let him continue. I like Marquez as a fighter and he is a proud champion but even I have to admit he does like to complain. Doesn't sway my stance on him though.

good post, Marquez is one of my favorite fighters too, but only in the ring... I don't like him making excuses and childish comments it really makes him look bad.

He has had a very long career and reffed over 100 title fights with only a few controversies to date. His age may be playing a factor, either way all refs make mistakes. IMO he should retire......

Are you serious? You probably can't even name more than three. Smoger is one of the best refs in the world and Cortez at one time was considered one as well. He may just be getting old or he is biased either way all refs have made career mistakes and yes Joe's were big but they far and few between. Your trolling is pitiful.

Out of all of the 100 and something title bouts he has only had two controversies, the Hatton debacle and the Sotto fight, both of those were foolish mistakes but you act as if he has been doing this his whole career. I repeat, at one time Cortez was considered one of the best refs in the world. He should retire as his age may be catching up to him IMO.

Marquez shouldn't be saying he is biased, he should be saying he has had some bad reffing jobs of late and does not perform like a world class referee so he shouldn't be in there anymore.
