What was bad about his refereeing in the Hatton vs Mayweather fight?

Cortez removed the padding in the turnbuckle so Ricky would be hurt even more by the head trauma. He also marked an X in the exact spot Hatton was standing on, to give Floyd the right trajectory for the Check Hook+Ring post KO.

Joe even enlarged the ring so Mayweather could run more from Hatton and he held Ricky down in the ring to stop him from getting up. Then he took the towel from Billy Grahm and used it to stop the fight prematurely.

Marquez shouldn't have generalized or accused Cortez of favoring race.. He should simply have said he didn't want Cortez b/c what he did in the Soto fight was a disgrace. The fact that Cortez still has the nuts to continue acting like he made the only reasonable decision in that fight just continues to prove he is a jackass. I don't expect him to pull a 180 on his DQ b/c he can't do that, but the way he speaks about it is ridiculous.. He ****ed up and everyone knows it.

I agree. I don't like Cortez at all. The way I saw him ref the Hatton-Mayweather fight, I swear I was thinking that he was paid off by Mayweather. Who knows if Hatton would have won, I think Mayweather is just too good of a boxer to get beaten by someone with a style like Hatton's. But still, Cortez is a ***** and I really don't like him.

He has had a very long career and reffed over 100 title fights with only a few controversies to date. His age may be playing a factor, either way all refs make mistakes. IMO he should retire......

I couldnt give a toss. Ali had a long and distinguished career but no one wants to see him box anymore. The powers that be should retire him.

I agree he should retire, when you act as ****** as he has there is no need to ref anymore. Maybe now that boxers are refusing him, the so called "powers" and Cortez himself could get the hint.

The only thing that I find wrong in all this situation it's Marquez saying that Cortez is against Mexicans, he should've said he's an inconsistent referee, and ask for another referee.
