    1. They were pretty well known then, for starters.

    2. They were damn good fighters, which is what Duran was getting at when he said no-names. Are you dense? Just admit you have no idea who the hell those guys are.

    3. You comparing them to guys like Oscar De La Hoya is pretty idiotic. How many boxers are as big as De La Hoya?

Finally, you don't seem too smart taking Duran to task on the fighters he lost to if you don't know who they are. They may be no-names to YOU, but that doesn't make them no-names period.

****ing go buy some more mirrors Duran, looks like you can't get enough of them.
lol@ your piss poor knowledge in boxing. i just had to look at calslappy icon to figure out you knew jack ****. Okay lets educate you on durans losses shall we, firstly id like to say De Jesus and Castro are both fantastic fighters, and defintly are not no names. Secondly 8 of his 16 losses were above the age of 40, he lost to a very good fighter in Hector Comacho aged 50! and still didnt get knocked out, he lost on a close decision to Castro aged 47 but beat him in the rematch, lost to joppy a former world champ in the prime of his career, when he lost against Gonzalez he was above 170, he lost to hall of famers hagler and hearns, both of which where naturally much bigger than duran, Kirkland laing-he came outta shape and underestimated him(who wouldnt in durans position), many people have made this mistake of underesitmating people prime example being mike tyson, the rematch with leonard he was over weight drastically and had to cut weight very quickly, as for simms, he was a good fighter, obviously wasnt good enough to tie durans shoe laces but nonetheless won, idk what happened with duran. so with this said most of his losses have been explained here. how dare you insult a man who fought everyone, took on all comers, went up many weight divisions wayyy outta his natural weight, didnt wait to get anyone who was old-fought them in their prime (unlike calslappy)...won titles in 4 weight classes against fantastic opposition, THE best lightweight ever, 1 of 2 boxers to fight in 5 decades, his legacy is second to none.

for the record, he was talking about if he was born in this generation there would be noone who could match him and tbh i agree... and he did not mention anything about floyd mayweather, but for the record, he would of beat that his ass up and down the ring. MANOS DE PIEDRA FOR LIFE.

I am not saying Duran isn't one of the greatest fighters ever, he truely is, who do you think I am.

But I don't like the way he tries to degrade todays fighters. I'm the best yada yada yada. No Duran, you wern't the best. Ray Robinson would have given you the biggest beating of your life, even worse than when Hearns knocked you out in 2.

lol giving the cliche "ray robinson is the best"..tell me how many RR fights have you seen? ray robinson would of probably beaten him, but not given him the beating of his life, p4p prime for prime, it could go either way. and hearns only knocked him out in 2 rounds because duran didnt train properly.

LOL, why is this thread full of excuses.

                "Duran didn't train properly"

                "Druan has a weight disadvantage"

"Duran was too heavy before the fight"

                "Duran was too old"

"Duran's cat had died the day before"

"Duran forgot he was fighting the next day"

                "Duran was jet-lagged"

                "Durans opponent had a fluke"

Are you guys seriously joking or what?

I can't argue this anymore, i'm done with NSB today, I'm off to the lounge.

its so much easier to become a world champ nowadays its unbelievable. not only do we have 4 belts, but even then the WBA divides itself into two seperate belts often, and then you have ridiculous stuff like the 'champion in recess' or whatever belt between Chagaev and Valuev, and then you throw in all the interim 'champs'...and even after all that, theres the RING belt. what a disgusting mess.

its laughable. you dont even have to be top ten in your division to be a world champ.

its almost just as easy to become a multi weight class world champ now too. it used to be a rare thing when there was only one belt(and WAY less weight classes), but now fighters jump around like its nothing, because they can just pick out the weakest champ in each division and pick up their alphabet belt trinkets.

in Duran's time when there were only 2 belts(3 by the twilight of his career), being a world champ meant soooo much more. especially if you were able to defend it multiple times.
