Are you guys seriously joking or what?

I can't argue this anymore, i'm done with NSB today, I'm off to the lounge.
Duran has multiple losses, but does it matter? had he retired after the 1st Ray Leonard fight, he already would have been a legend and one of the greatest fighters of all time. anything else he did after that was just icing on the cake.
...and interestingly enough, he did a hell of a lot after that fight.

      Losses do matter.

Imagine How big Roy Jones Jr would be now if he quit after the Ruiz fight.

        How big?

He is measured by what he accomplished, no one's gonna be thinking about what he did after 2004.

No one thinks about Trevor Berbick when it comes to Ali, do they?

        Terry Norris for Ray Leonard?

        Exactly.

Yeh but imagine if RJJ retired after beating Tarver in their first fight. He would have been remembered far greater than he is now. The losses to Tarver and Johnson have casted a shadow over his head the last few years.

            Losses do count.

eh, well personally I wouldnt rate him much higher. he looked noticably worse after having to go down in weight, and all his big career wins were pretty much taken care of, other than the close Tarver one.

Losses matter, but not that much. especially when youre 10+lbs above your best weight and noticably past your prime.

if Calzaghe ended up losing once and retired, I wouldnt rate him any differently. same with Mayweather at this point.

You say that now because it's fresh. Give it 10 years or so.

History shows us that is NOT the case. Go and look back at every ATG, nearly all of them lost in embarassing fashion the last few times they fought.

Yeh maybe... But i suppose it depends on who you lose to and at the weight you lost to them at.

There is no mention of Mayweather at all in this interview. I have to laugh at Duran considering himself the best of all time and knocking fighters now a days. Yes, back then he fought a lot compared to now but there are a ton of crappy fighters on his resume. Duran spent his whole life dominating one division by beating up much smaller men. Once the script was changed he was not much better.
