Green was hurt by McCary, he's trash
Taylor barely beat and hardly landed anything on BHop, was KO'ed by Pavlik and a lot of people think he lost to Wright. In those three fights he didn't land much of note. With Lacy, Lacy hasn't looked good in a very long time.
I don't think mentioning those fights advanced Taylor's cause much in this debate.
Taylor still beat B-Hop by MD and UD (defensively, Green is no B-Hop) Taylor was beating Pavlik in the 1st fight before getting caught and he drastically improved in the 2nd fight...as a matter of fact, if he had won the 11th and 12th round, he would have won the rematch according to the scorecard.
The Wright fight is debatable, some felt he lost (you) some felt he won (me) but he still got a draw which is hard against Wright.
As far as Lacy not looking good, that not Taylor fought...he just want out their and did his job....remember the only two men to beat Lacy are also the same two men to beat B-Hop (who thrashed Pavlik).
Green would lose to all 4 (B-Hop, Pavlik,Wright & Lacy).
Taylor only been down once, I think he chin is good.....Green has been down several times.
Taylor comp (win, lose or draw) is light years better than Green's....I don't think that he will be showing taylor anything that he hasn't seen before.Last edited by Queen_Leia; 02-01-2009, 04:04 PM.Comment

Green would lose to BHop, Pavlik, Wright, Lacy & Miranda
Don't use weight as an excuse why he lost to Miranda....If Green not using it, than you shouldn't. If 162 was so bad, than why did Green and his adviser Greg Leon contemplate going back when the Pavlik fight was on the table.
Green lost to Miranda because that was a big step up in competition from the cab drivers and contender reject he use to fighting and his mediocrity showed in the ring and was on put on display by the crude Miranda.
Miranda is a gatekeeper, if you can't get past him....you will never be.
Green wouldn't beat Pavlik, his chin would fail him
"I had 80% of my colon removed"...if this is the case, why go through with the fight in the first place....he wasn't fighting his usual cab driver type opponent, he was a step-up opponent...pull out until you are healthy or don't use that as an excuse when you lose.Last edited by Queen_Leia; 02-01-2009, 04:18 PM.Comment

Maybe I'm just being old-fashioned, but I wanna see the best fighters fight each other. At the least I'm annoyed at Taylor since he's the one with the key to open up the division and I simply dont buy him needing yet another tune-up to hone his skills. Taylor fought brilliantly against Pavlik.
It could be argued that he should have won the first fight as some ref.s would have stopped the fight with Pavlik out on his feet in the 2. round and Taylor fought excellent in the second fight and a lot of people had him winning.
So for Taylor it's not an inability to land a championship fight this pointless fight against Green is Taylor's own choosing and that's highly dissapointing for this fan!
The fact of the matter is that he's not a big puncher, especially now at 168. He's been outboxed by Hopkins, Wright and Spinks. He didn't outbox Pavlik by much if at all. So, he does have quite a bit of room for improvement. While you did point out a (imo an exaggerated) scenario where he could be undefeated, there are many more people who'd argue that Taylor could easily have (imo deserves) 5 or 6 losses right now.
He doesn't get the most out of his talent and in the old days fighters who still had room to grow fought often and not always for a title, but just to get better. To be honest, I don't think so much of Froch that I'd demand to see Taylor against him. Kessler and Bute are another story, but Froch, Inkin and possibly even Balzsay are just good enough to warrant consideration, but is anyone outside of Nottingham really losing sleep over that fight not happening?Comment

Personally I can't think of anything in boxing that would make me lose sleep, and none of the people who are objecting in this thread to Taylor fighting Green rather than Froch come from Nottingham or are even particularly fans of Froch. The reason we're objecting (certainly in my case, and I believe in every case) is that we want to see a dominant champion in the division, to replace Calzaghe. At the moment the division is a mess. Taylor-Froch with the winner fighting Bute or Kessler would be a big step in the right direction. By comparison, in that context, Taylor-Green in completely meaningless.Comment
