Assuming the handwrap issue is nothing, he needs to immediately step it up against top notch opposition in my opinion. With the style of fighting Margarito has, he cannot afford to take easy fights while he deteriorates and ages.
What does Margarito have to do now...

Margarito would be wise to take a fight with a "live" tune up, someone who doesn't pose a huge threat, but has the skill to make things interesting. Someone along the lines of delvin rodriguez, carlos quintana, or luis collazo. All fighters that Margarito should beat, but not necessarally an easy night. Zab Judah could be a viable option as well.
I wouldn't blame him for taking another fight similar to the Golden johnson demolition, but it would do little for his reputation.
As far as the hand wraps go, we will have to wait and see what happens as the whole story unfolds, although I doubt it will cripple his reputation. As far as I know so far, there is no hard evidence that he cheated in any of his other fights. Tito Trinidad was of course ******** for a similar violation before his fight with bernard hopkins, and while his reputation take a hit, it was relatively minor. It is also worth noting that Mosley's new trainer ****m Richardson was also in Hopkins corner for his fight with Trinadad, and he is the one who first noticed the su****ious wrapping in both fights. Margarito will fight on, and the hand wraps will most likely become more of a side note so long as nothing more comes to fruition that could damage his reputation further.Comment

Okay. Great insight then. If you can't get past the hating (which Margarito completely deserves by the way...at least until, and if, the handwrap thing gets cleared up), then move on and don't reply.
Look, you're Puerto Rican and I get it. This handwrap mess has you thinking that he probably used the same **** against your boy Cotto. I think it tarnishes his win too...and could only be redeemed with another victory against Cotto.
So like I said, if you can't get past that, then don't reply.Comment

If I were Tony's people, I wouldn't rush into a Cotto fight just yet.
If they think they can run over Cotto again after the beating he took from Mosley, they're going to see a worse beating come June. Cotto this time around is in Margarito's position being the underdog and the fighter who has to prove something.
I don't think Margarito can take 3 back to back fights with guys like Cotto and Mosley. Those 3 fights can put Marg on the shelf permanently.Comment

Yeah, I think those would be pretty solid comeback opponents. Either one is a former-world title holder and would be a good, yet not a given, win.
Not sure if Margarito's people would want to put him in with Judah at this point. Judah's got that speed factor too, and they might want to avoid that for awhile.Comment
