that's what i'm saying.......
the only problem is the way cotto fights marg......like shane did, you gotta 1) go to the body 2) tie up on the inside
i've never heard a boxer say he couldn't get to the other guys body....also cotto stated he doesn't hold/tie up.......he's gonna have to.
margarito is heavy handed, its just shane never gave him a stationary target....no backing up, laying on the ropes. if you notice, whenever shane backed up, he either tied margarito up, or got off before margarito did, and met him back in the middle of the ring.
mosley admitted to using that ****, unknowingly, for 1 fight, almost nine years ago.....this is not the same thing here.
its not that mosley did a 180, a couple of things changed....
1) he was on a year layoff before he fought mayorga, not fighting for that long, you're not gonna be at your best, i don't care who you are.
2) styles make fights, mayorga has an awkward style, margarito was pretty much ripe for mosley- stationary, slower
3) better trainer. trainers can't necessarily "change" fighters, what they do is bring out positives, try to minimize negative attributes, study the opponent and come up w/ a game plan to follow. the right trainer can make a difference.
4) shane aint on nothing, he would have to be ****** to even try something, considering what he's dealing with already.
margarito landed punches on mosley, but they weren't damaging, b/c of the WAY mosley fought margarito......he wasn't going straight back, giving margarito a stationary target....he didn't lay on the ropes and let margarito tee off. shane tied up when he had too, he didn't take unneccessary punishment when he shouldn't have.
the reason margarito's punches had greater effect on cotto, is that he hit cotto w/ cleaner shots, and a lot more of em. i think i saw margarito catch mosley w/ maybe 1 or 2 nice shots the entire fight, but margarito doesn't do it w/ 1 or 2 shots....he let's his **** build up over the course of the fight. cotto got caught w/ some decent **** every round, and it built up. around round 6, you could kinda feel margarito building momentum.
this fight, i never got that feeling margarito was doing anything effective. in fact, i thought last night margarito actually won round 7, but i watched the replay of the fight today, and i actually think shane won that round too.
not saying he cheated or didn't cheat against cotto......but i'm saying the way shane fought and the way cotto fought margarito were like night and day, and cotto would have to make changes in the rematch to be successful, cuz if he fights the same way, he'll lose again....plaster or no plaster.
plus, you gotta also realize- 1) mosley has better endurance AND a better chin than cotto 2)mosley hits harder than cotto too. mosley's power is very deceptive. anybody that has 39 KOs in 46 wins, has some type of punching power.
