    George Foreman's commentary

I'm rewatching the Hopkins/Trinidad fight right now, and Foreman is being a huge Trinidad ball sucker. Everything that comes out of his mouth has something to do with Tito. When Hopkins puts his back on the ropes, and exchanges (and wins the exchange), it's because Tito has him hurt.

When Hopkins dropped his hands to his sides momentarily in the 6th, it's because he was "fading" thanks to Tito's power.

Hopkins was boxing beautifully, and George was saying Bernard needed a knockout because Trinidad was the Champion.

Larry Merchant called him on his bull****..........

Larry : Why don't you want to give Hopkins more credit George, he's fighting a teriffic fight so far?

George : He's doing a great job, but the determination of this guy (Trinidad), takes everything out of your legs, it takes everything out of your heart!

Larry : Well, they're both Champions!

Any other examples of George being a horrible commentator? I can recall him calling some fights but nothing in particular.

Foreman loved punchers, he'd back the puncher almost everytime.

I figured that's what it was about. I honestly don't remember how good (or bad as it seems) of a commentator he was. I haven't had a chance to go back and watch many of the fights he called and listen closely.

At least he's better than Stewart, who keeps saying "I knew this fight will turn out this way."

Yeah, almost every time there was a puncher in the ring, he'd back him, even when the puncher would be losing every round in the fight, he'd back him.

I liked Foreman's commentary because he liked the same kind of boxers that I did. I always found him fun to listen to.

The Hamed-Kelley fight is particularly good; you can hear George fall in love live on air.

I preferred it when it was Foreman or Roy Jones to the way things are now. I think you need someone who is opinionated and argues their point to work alongside Merchant. It's rare that Lennox or Manny say anything surprising or controversial.

The thing is, I never really had a problem with George. I remember being irritated on the night I watched Hopkins/Trinidad live on PPV, but going back and watching again, it irritated me. So I made this thread to see if there were other things people remember him saying that made no sense.

I mean, "the determination of this guy takes your legs, it takes your heart!" is a weird thing to say.....especially when "this guy" is getting his ass whipped, pretty handily.

Roy on the mic was great, I loved listening to him. I hope they can Lennox, and bring back Roy when he retires.

Foreman talked a lot of **** about Trinidad before the Vargas fight, he bet against Trinidad and so did Larry. LOL, cant get over the first knock down as Foreman was saying you go to show this Trinidad am not afraid of you! BAM first left hook landed on the neck put Vargas on ***** st, then he shut the *** up afterwards.

I just watched Mayweather vs Corrales again and despite admitting that Mayweather was putting on a boxing clinic, Foreman kept repeating that Corrales is always dangerous because of his punching power. He kept up this claim even when you could see the inevitable. lol
