The 'fantastic fighting machine' comment on Calzaghe was M. Steward I think, not Larry.

I think Jim Lampley is a really good commentator and he speaks a lot of sense. Manny Steward just speaks whatever has just happened ('I knew this would happen'/'I could see this happening' etc.

Big George is without a doubt the worst commentator of all time. He is there purely for the LOLZ when he opens his mouth. Whatever he says is usually just garbage or completely contradictory to what is actually going on. Sometimes you can just HEAR Lampley thinking 'OMG WHAT THE **** IS HE ON ABOUT NOW'? Sometimes Lampley tries to correct him or bridges the gap by making a point foreman can't disagree with that cools the tension lol.

Classic George Foreman things to say:

'OOOOOHHHHHHH YOU DONT WANNA DO THAT'
'YOU DON" WANNA GO TO THE BODY LIKE THAT'

Larry Merchant loves Wlad, and by love I dont just mean his fighting qualities.

He always notes his body of greek god and a roman profile of a face. Larry is a bit gay for the younger klitschko.

Silencers, can you give me the story behind Merchant saying he loved Jefferson?

My favorite quote from that fight

Lampley: There seems to be no sign of Hopkins Slowing down.

Foreman: Oh there are a lot of signs, too many signs.

Lampley: What are the signs?he's wearing down????

Foreman: When he goes back to his corner he lays his feet flat out. Trinidad is still in a sitting position.

George is crazy but i like him better than Steward

The Hamed-Kelley fight is particularly good; you can hear George fall in love live on air.

I preferred it when it was Foreman or Roy Jones to the way things are now. I think you need someone who is opinionated and argues their point to work alongside Merchant. It's rare that Lennox or Manny say anything surprising or controversial.
Agreed. And in spite of all the ridiculous things George said, as well as his man-crush on "Osca De La Oya", he could be extremely insightful, particularly when it was a heavyweight fight.

I'm not a fan of Lampley at all. He's influenced so many viewers with his bull****, calling phantom punches, talking about something else when the house fighter isn't doing well and basically reading off a script instead of watching the fight.

              Ugh. Sickens me.

In Larry's defense, who isn't gay for Wlad?

That one cracked me up too. Like WTF are you talking about George? That makes no sense at all.

Foreman is an ass, in terms of his commentating skills. I remember making a thread about THIS exact subect a while back, actually.

                      Or, as Stewart would say..

'I knew this all before you did.'
