You're kinda right, there were a few pretty solid members here about a year and a half ago. It's even less now.

Members like JabsRstiff knew alot about the x and o's of the sport, CPLE and Yogi were pretty d*mn good with their boxing history. Today, we only have Iceman Scully.

I'm sure you're correct. There are millions of hungry kids in the Philippines and maybe out of these one will emerge as another Pacman protege. JAT

I always was high on Czar Amonsot getting far... They moved the kid too quickly againts Katsidis.. He was what 18-19 when he gave Katsidis more than he bargained for... Amonsot has the heart to go far but was never polished the way he was supposed to.. Im glad to see Kastidis did not end his career after all and he is fighting again... But I don't think he will have the same fire. Mayol had the skill for his division and got bad breaks with training and managerial problems. I question his heart and head after the loss to Soto though.. he had that fight locked down and started leaving his hands low and got caught. What the Philippines needs is more good trainers... I've seen too many loose their steam in the later rounds.

              Is this fact or fiction?

How can Pacquiao possibly help Amateur boxing. That'd be dope if he did. Especially in Filipino communities....*ahem*

Anyways, is amateur boxing in that bad of shape?

Even if I was 80 Manny Paqcuiao would still be the only elite great boxer to come out of the pillipines...in my lifetime...

If the Pacman can train people to emulate his style of fighting, there is a chance that someone in the amateur ranks will be able to do this. It's just a matter of time. Hopefully not a long time. JAT

Sorry but thats not the way it works...you are in fact born with the talent..and some people have the talent but they don't have that burning desire to do something with it...

So you can take a thousand kids and train them to be the next pacman..but if they don't have the raw talent then its no use...and like I said..even if one has the talent physically he still has to have that burning desire to get to the top...and stay at the top... PEOPLE ARE NOT MACHINES...

Yes, obviously you'll need some sort of talent to succeed in this sport. You would guess that anyone who would get involved in the sport of boxing or in any sport for that matter will have some desire to be the best. My point is that if there are individuals in the Phils that have the same basic skills of the Pacman but require some refinements then these people are very much likely to succeed with some help from the World Champion.

We know that the Pacman wasn't the best when he started. Through years of development, he gained experience and climbed to the top. The Pacman is a rarity but I wouldn't say that he's the last virtuoso boxer from the Phils. JAT
