I often wonder why so many people are so bothered by Calzaghe, to the extent they genuinely hate the guy. Is it because he's not American, or because he's beaten every great American hope put in front of him? Is it because he left the self-proclaimed "Executioner" crawling around on his hands and knees after imaginary low blows, trying to wangle a points deduction like some second rate club fighter?

Unlike many of his peers, he doesn't use women as punchbags. He doesn't claim to be greater than the likes of Ali and Robinson. He doesn't give X-rated press conferences, take steroids, get into scraps with the police, or have a massive entourage full of leeches and hangers-on. Just a solid boxer who's made a lot of money and had a fine career.
