King was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and originally named "Dong King". After dropping out of Kent State University and being constantly made fun of for his name, he ran an illegal bookmaking operation, and was charged for killing two men in separate incidents 13 years apart. The first was determined to be justifiable homicide after it was found that King shot a man in the back and killed him while he was attempting to rob one of King's ******** houses.[1] King was convicted of second degree murder for the second killing after he was found guilty of beating to death an employee who owed him $600.[2] In an ex parte meeting with King's attorney, the judge reduced King's conviction to nonnegligent manslaughter for which King served just under four years in prison.[3]Comment

When reading Larry Holmes's book he also confirmed King has Murdered some one and done the sentence.
Also little story regrading King, after the Hagler/Lenoard i think it was that fight, Don King was trying to get in the ring etc, and the fight had nothing to do with him and Bob Arum didn't like this etc and got him out of the ring and a ''Gun'' is belived to of fell out of his pocket according to Holmes.
You learn alot more about Don when you read Holmes's book. Great Read by the way!
I just finished that book a few weeks ago, excellent book. If you want some real insight into the devious mind of King get the book "Don King: his life and crimes". King is brilliant, but he is about as big a peice of **** that ever been involved in the fight game.Comment
