Why Margarito is bad for Mayweather!

Money Mayweather would handle Margarito pretty handily. Floyd is just so smooth in the ring that he just makes even the best look ******.Comment

I would have to favor Floyd if they fought. If you think about it this fight would be bigger now then ever in the past (even bigger if Margarito gets through his first half schedule with 2 wins).
Margarito is not a great technical pressure fighter (follows instead of cutting off the ring, throws wild looping shots and really have only seen him have 1 plan in the ring), that said Margarito is relentless and will throw a lot of shots. Margarito is a big strong guy but he is not a 1 punch guy, if he throws 120 punches around and lands at or worse the statistical average for a Mayweather opponent I do not really think he could break down Mayweather, if he lands at a significantly higher % then an average Mayweather opponent he has a good shot, I just fail to see how he would accomplish that feat.
Mayweather likes to lay on the ropes, and this could work in Margarito favor, even if he only lands slightly more then average while Floyd lays on the ropes it is still a plus. Also since Floyd likes to pick and choose his spots as opposed to fighting all the time, so if the fight is competitive (as opposed to being a boxing lesson) I could see how judges could give the fight to Margarito based on activity considering the lack of damage that might be done to both fighters.Comment

Margarito = Too slow, to open to counters
Mayweather = Too good defensive, accurate, fast to lose to MargaritoComment

I agree to an extent, but Mayweather has fought no one like Margarito and I do believe Margarito is the best pressure fighter at 147,period.Mayweathers average opponents are no where near as effective a pressure fighter as Margarito,DLH pressure,Ricky Hatton pressure, does not compare to Margarito pressure, believe me!!
They all have differerent pressure (although Oscar is a boxer not a pressure fighter), Hatton is actually a better pressure fighter in cutting off the ring and making you fight, while Margarito is tougher and more relentless. Every fight I always hear about pressure being the way to defeat Mayweather, but I have never looked at it like that (it has also yet to work). I think a fighter needs to be smart and make Floyd fight in a way he is uncomfortable (now I guess pressure fighting would work for this, but I do not think that is the only thing you can bring to the dance and really have a good chance of winning against Floyd), to do this I think you need some verstility to your game, and with Margarito I do not see that.Comment

Well I can say the same about Margarito, he has never fought (much less defeated) someone like Mayweather.

I never said it wouldn't be a tough fight for Mayweather... Marg is a very tough fighter, all I am saying is that I think he would simply outbox Marg and win on points. (from when you quoted my comment before).
But, we both have our opinions... I am not saying yours is wrong, and I am not saying mine is wrong.Comment
