To close, in terms of lasting impact, I'd say Ali.

Not just based on that, but I'd go with Ali, but it's very close.

He's not underrated. He's considered by most as the greatest, or one of the greatest, 140 lb. fighters ever. He was ranked very high (too high) on The Ring's top 80 list of the last 80 years. That's plenty of credit and a high "rating".

If anything, he's overrated on message boards by people who watch too much Legendary Nights.

I'd also go with Walker Smith, but I don't agree with those that say he's "far ahead" of everyone else.

You can make a case for Henry Armstrong, or maybe Sam Langford.

                  • Greatest Of All time w/ underated: Harry Greb

                  But Overall

                  1. Sugar Ray Robinson

Sugar Ray is considered by the majority of boxing historians as the greatest fighter of all time. He started his career at lightweight but could knock out middleweights with one punch from either hand. Robinson was completely dominant at welterweight. His peak record was 128-1-2. He had a 91 bout winning streak against first class competition. As a fighter he could do it all, he had speed, power, fluid boxing skills, and could take a tremendous punch. He was never physically knocked out in over 200 fights. Not only was the Sugarman the complete package but he was as close to perfection as it gets in boxing.

I'd be surprised if 90% of this thread isn't SRR, or Ali

                      SRR is the greatest.

I didn't know until I read up he was 85(69)-0 as an amateur followed by 175(108)-19-8 as a pro.

For those saying floyd for skill, SRR was floyd but fighting 10 times a year for 20 years in a better era.
