I know he said it a while ago but it's a popular discussion on BS atm so I'll write what I have to write:
I think people say Ali is much better because most boxing fans are simply unable to recognise a fighters greatness over fighters of the past.
I also think it's because people hate Mayweather's persona. Though the last time I checked, Mayweather wasn't the one making racist comments toward white people and trying to segregate races in America.
The reason Floyd Mayweather is p4p #1 is because he is a positive thinker. He believes himself to be the best and has strived to maintain that title which most people who sit on their asses all day bashing fighters wouldn't understand.
I think based on his performances, Mayweather is completely in the right to call himself the greatest of all time. Do I think he is? Not yet. Not until he has proved himself against some of those names still out there for him. Though I still think he has done enough to claim that he is.
