    Louis was not slow of hand, his punches were short, crisp, fast and devastating. He doesn't have the combination or footspeed of Ali but he is certainly formidible enough. Ali is bigger but Louis is used to fighting bigger men (none match the greatness of Ali but you get my point)

      The size difference between Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali is often overstated.

      Louis was 6'2, 200-208 lbs at his peak, Ali was 6'3 and weighed 200-210 at his peak. Ali however has the advantages in reach, footspeed and the ability to take a punch which might win the fight for him.

          Good thread Irish. Joe is my alltime favourite HW. THose combinations he threw were just so fast and accurate. I have never seen another heavy throw as fast and accurate power combinations since, including Muhammad.
