Castillo makes the list of ATG LW's, overall though he didnt do enough to be considered an ATG in all of boxing
      Past LW champions:

      Joe Gans
      Benny Leonard
      Tony Canzoneri
      Barney Ross
      Lou Ambers
      Henry Armstrong
      Sammy Angott
      Ike Williams
      Beau Jack
      Jimmy Carter
      Joe Brown
      Carlos Ortiz
      Ismael Laguna
      Ken Buchanan
      Roberto Duran
      Esteban DeJesus
      Alexis Arguello
      Edwin Rosario
      Hector Camacho
      Julio Cesar Chavez
      Pernell Whitaker
      Oscar De La Hoya
      Shane Mosley
      Floyd Mayweather

Castillo would surely be ranked over some of the names because he had a better resume at the weight but I'm not sure where.

No chance, good fighters and good wins for Floyd but they had never beaten another ATG. They hadn't had long runs as champ or dominated their divisions etc.

I liked Castillo, he was a blood and guts warrior. But Im not sure I would pick him to beat one fighter on that list. You?

I think to much emphasis is put on fighters fighting ATG's. It is very rare for fighters to actually have other ATG's in and around their weight class. That is why Ray Leonard, Hearns, Hagler and those guys era is looked at with great pride. That was a great era in boxing. Now who in PBF's era in and around his weight classes in their primes were ATG's? The only person who I can think of right now is Pacman and he just recently put himself into that discussion. IMO it is not a stamped fact that Pacman is a ATG.

Yes I am a big PBF fan but admit I wish Cotto, Margarito could have brought PBF the money he wanted for those fights. PBF's career opposition IMO is slight above average and it could have been better. I will not place complete blame on any fighter for certain fights not happening.

To answer the thread question no they are no ATG but they were top tier fighters when PBF fought and beat them.

i really wouldn't consider them first ballot hall of famer's, maybe somewhere in the halls there is a place for them and their stats, but one thing is for sure, their first fight is DEFINITELY a hall of fame worthy fight, first ballot! for sure..... you can't deny that.

but Corrales vs Castillo 1 was the greatest fight I've ever seen; and I think they'll both always be remembered for that fight
