LOL at these statement MMA is not growing. If MMA is growing why some orgs like Pride,EliteXC, etc folded? And besides look at the UFC their biggest star is a former WWE champion. The Lesnar-Randy was supposed to be the biggest fight in the UFC's history but they didn't break the record of PPV sales or gate sales for that matter.

Interesting comments from a failed boxing promoter, boxercise instructor and college dropout. White has always suffered penis envy when it comes to boxing.
The state of MMA is bad. Elite XC is dead, Pride is dead, Dream is dying, Bodog is dead. The UFC is finally in the black but MMA as a whole is bad shape. The UFC is the only promotion in MMA actually profiting. No other MMA org is making a profit and most aren't even able to operate debt free. When you're number #1 you don't pay attention to much to number 2.Comment

As a fan/spectator/etc... What do u care what he pays his fighters? Would u rather him pay them more, and have what we have in boxing now, which is the top fighters ducking risky fights for low risk/high reward fights? Would you be more satisfied with highly paid fighter and crappy matchups? Just sit back and enjoy the show. Fighters finances should not be our concern.
I'd rather see boring @ss grappling than having to hear Lampley or Kellerman's whiny voice.Comment

You'd comapre them to the commentator's who work for UFC? At least Merchant and company can say what they want because they aren't on the show's payroll. Outside of the DLH drubbing the UFC has given you such Stellar matchups as Gannon via the internet, Elite XC has given you Kimbo against a K-1 dropout and getting clobbered and slobs so pitiful to mention De La Hoya look like amicheangelo sculpture in comparison.
And someone brought up fighters? Compare the steroid indictment numbers in MMA to boxing and then consider the pay scale again and how much money MMA really generates.Comment

UFC president Dana White has been a critic of the way boxing is run for a long time. Many boxing fans don't like him, but agree with his comments on why the sport of boxing is troubled. White's recent comments took aim at Oscar De La Hoya and his promotional company, Golden Boy Promotions. He went after the way De La Hoya does business and the undercards that accompany Oscar's pay-per-view appearances. [details]Comment

Dana White could not have said it any better... The promoters of Boxing are ruining the "sport" of boxing... BUT, money ruins all sports and athletes eventually. Maybe that's why he (Dana) pays his fighters only 6 figures, so the money doesn't take over the fighters and the "sport" of MMA. BUT, in no way is boxing "dying"... Those types of phrases come from people that couldn't make it in boxing. Ya the "business side" of boxing died a long time ago, but the actual sport and love for boxing will always be around. Granted the UFC is the hot ticket right now and is probably here to stay... All the UFC did was give hope to "average" dudes that can't stand up and fight without holding or kicking for 12 three minute rounds, that's why it's so popular. Ask anybody who watches the UFC and they'll tell you that they'd rather see a knock out than a tap out and most of the time the fights don't even go to the ground anyway. MMA fighters are the ones who hire boxing trainers to help with their stand up game. I'm not saying MMA isn't BAD ASS, and I don't love some of the fighters, I DO... but in boxing a true champion prize fighter has to fight at least 20-25 times without a loss before he gets a shot at a title (like Mike Alvarado) and that's not including the 150-200 amateur bouts he has before turning pro. In the UFC, u can be 1 and 0 and get a shot at the title or be labeled one of the "best" in the world (like Gabriel Gonzaga and Brock Lesnar), then never be heard from again once they lose. I LOVE both sports and train in both, but I never hear Boxers talk bad about MMA, but it's the MMA fighters that always put down boxing. In Ramage Jackson's STAND UP, LEFT HOOK KNOCK OUT over Silva this past Saturday he summed it up best with two words... He said his knock out wouldn't have been possible without his "BOXING COACH"

If you're basing your steroid figures on CSAC numbers, those are highly questionable. They did a total restructuring of their testing apparatus after Garcia resigned. When you have a guy who has Acromegaly get suspended for Baldernone, which would kill him and then have his appeal shot down because he used an IOC lab to prove their test wrong, something is definitely rotten.Comment

I don't disagree with Diana White about DLH... but if Diana wants continued credibility... he has GOT to get rid of Lesner as a HW champ! I thought Valuev as a belt holder was a circus act for boxing... but the fact that Lesner has a UFC belt is ten steps backwards for a growing UFC. Shameful Diana... just shameful!Comment
