Im a boxing fan before im an MMA/UFC fan, but boxing better get its act together! Dana spoke nothing but the truth. I know many boxing snobs here dont wanna hear it because they know its true and it hurts, but lets face it, he's 100% correct. With UFC taking 8 of 10 top ppv spots this year, boxing better change its ways QUICK, or else HBO and Showtime will start consider giving its air time to UFC instead! Remember, its all a business.

Could this have anythign to do with the fact that Golden Boy is now venturing into MMA promotion? Either way... I agree with White on the nature of De La Hoya.Comment

You'd have to be a biased blind boxing snob to realize that what Dana said isnt the truth. With all the greed, santioning bodies, cherry picking fights, etc... Boxing is literally hanging itself, while a sport like MMA continues to rise in popularity.Comment

I heard Dana White lost $50K betting on Juan Manuel Marquez against Manny Pacquiao this past March! That's $50K that should've gone toward his fighters that he instead pocketed. He underpays his fighters so badly it's pathetic and borderline criminal. If he thinks he knows boxing, let him become a boxing promoter and compete with the rest. He's just jealous and resentful that GBP is venturing into MMA.
Do you actually think Dana White is cutting these fighter's checks from his personal checking account ?
Yup, and if it did in fact do these numbers, or at least 514,000, which I'm almost positive it did, at the very least...the UFC will have broken the all time record for PPV revenue in a single year, eclipsing the previous record that was held by the WWE.
This is great news, seeing that boxing promoters are now going to feel pressured to put on more quality cards throughout the year, as opposed to 2 or 3 mega events, and a slew of mediocre cards.Comment

From this point on, i refuse to purchase any more boxing ppv's, unless the card is stacked. The days of me paying $55 for 1 fight are gone.Comment

They're getting money off of Affliction. They're not helping it. If they were helping it, they wouldn't be running Moseley/Marg in the same city and on the same date.Comment

As a fan/spectator/etc... What do u care what he pays his fighters? Would u rather him pay them more, and have what we have in boxing now, which is the top fighters ducking risky fights for low risk/high reward fights? Would you be more satisfied with highly paid fighter and crappy matchups? Just sit back and enjoy the show. Fighters finances should not be our concern.Comment

Sure, when you look at what the upper echleon of boxing is making, the UFC salaries pale in comparison. But I think part of what's hurting boxing now is that the bulk of the money made from the promotions is pocketed.
The UFC in contrast invests most of its profits back into the business, which is part of the reason they are able to give us these free shows and stacked cards.
The desparity between the salaries of the two sports in the lower levels of fighting aren't that much different though. A lot of the guys I train with are making anywhere from $3-$10,000 a fight doing local shows.
So it isn't terribly horrible on that level.Comment
