tbh being ranked #1 by the ring in your division is probably more prestigeous than being the champion.

think about it. ricardo mayorga , cory spinks , zab judah and carlos baldomir were all ring champions.

being ranked #1 means you are rated by everyone as the best in your division. you can be ring champ off of one win.

By your standards or Ring standards.. No one can ever claim the "lineal Championship again.. If Lennox retired as champ the line is broken.. Hell I guess the line was broken a few times in history.. I mean Marciano retired undefeated..

that's why they have the rules of a new lineal champ having to own all 3 major belts (wbc , ibf , wba) or winner of #1 vs. #2 to reclaim the ring belt.

the system is not perfect but it's better than what the wbc , wba , ibf , wbo , ibo , etc. does.

remember the zab judah is still champ because baldomir didn't pay them fiasco at 147?

to all you people talking about him unifying and that he hasn't 'cleaned' the division out until he unifies you must remember that no one else will unify WITH him. It's not his fault that don king and the other corrupt promoters refuse to put their fighters in against Wladimir cus they know he will destroy them so in essence don't ever expect unification because it will NOT happen PERIOD. I agree with the guy above me that says destroy Haye and Povetkin and there's not much else left to do but since he'll most likely get arreola next it seems and Vitali will destroy Haye that will leave Haye out of the picture so the only fight left later in the year for Wlad is povetkin and after that there's really not that much left.

That ironic thing about 'unifying' with Klitschko is that it would be a huge draw in Europe, Germany in particular, and would generate an incredible amount of money. I just don't see why the promoters don't realize this...

There are 4 major belts. Are you going to tell me when Calzaghe held just the WBO, he was not the undisputed Champ?

Wladimir has the WBO/IBF, give him the WBA or WBC belt and he will be undisputed in my book. That way he will have 3 out of 4 belts and that will be the majority.
