Not saying he didnt believe that but he was promoting Floyd also when he made the statement.

Ali said Tyson would have beaten him.
Ali said he was in the best condition ever...when getting ready for Larry Holmes.
RJJ said he was in the best condition against Calzaghe.

and the same can be said for the fans who make the same exact claims about that fighter also. it's always subjective when determining things like this, but being an avid fan of both of theirs for years, and watching their fights extensively, i have a right to make the claim i did. hopkins did say this after the hatton/mayweather fights, and that equates to something, whether you go off of it or not, you're hearing from the man's mouth, and i doubt floyd would disagree, seeing how he claimed he was the best ever, and actually giving a reason why, and he is entitled to believe in himself just like any fighter is. he is so hated for that comment, but you know what, **** it, who cares who hates for it. floyd mayweather accomplished hell of a lot in a short time, and gave his blood, sweat, and tears to boxing, and his accomplishments only reward him for it. he's controversial, hated, revered, loved, envied, but admired and respected by many all time greats, as well as fans. he is labled greedy, arrogant, ****y, self-centered, boring in the ring, a coward, all types of names, but at the end of the day, none of that **** matters when he goes out and dominates his fights and wins, and puts his obvious gifts into action. larry merchant said it so eloquently after the gatti fight. floyd fights as naturally as a fish swims. he couldn't have said this any better. many writers has labled floyd the most superior technical fighter in history. many have him as the greatest fighter of his era. and floyd said it best, many fighters have said they are the best fighters ever in many eras, and many will say it again, after his era, but the way he performed in that ring, is unforgettable and the impact and legacy he is leaving and has left in this sport is something enormous, and that cannot be denied.

anyway, hopkins claimed this, mosley did, ray leonard did, roy jones did, oscar did, and others, floyd is the best fighter of his generation, bar none. and these are the guys you guys look to as heros and legends, and they give him his props no matter how bad he degraded them in interviews and press conferences, because they, just like other fighters and imo "true bixing fans", look at how he performs in the only thing that matters at the end of the day, that ring.

I agree you can say Mayweather is the greatest fighter in this era...You can say that and debate it a little...but what you can't say is

Keep in mind, I'm a HUGE Mayweather fan by the way

But what you can't say is that he is the most accomplished fighter in this era and sadly, that is what matters in the end. Beating Pac will probably do that...Lets hope
