ROY JONES & MAYWEATHER = Same Career Moves -( DIFFERENT Treatment!!!)

Roy Jones and Floyd Mayweather both Stand Out as this era Greatest Fighters...
But The One thing I never understood is How people hold these two fighters to different standards.
Nobody ever held it against Roy that he didnt fight the best Heavyweights although he call himself the best Heavyweight in the world when he was the "Pound for Pound" best in the world. In addition he said would even beat Lenox Lewis,Wlad Klitschko, and Mike Tyson.??????
And yet people still think he is an all time great even though he didnt clean out the heavyweight division and fight the best heavyweights although he called himself the "best heavyweight in the world" and had the belt????
But when it comes to Mayweather, all you hear is if he doesnt fight the best welterweights in the world he is not a all time great...because he called himself the best "Welterweight" in the world when he was P4P best in the world.
Not looking at the fact Roy did the same thing..
The welterweight division was Mayweathers 4th division
The Heavyweight Division was Roy's 3rd/4th Division
(3rd division he held a belt in)
So my question is why do some of you guys hold Mayweather to a different standard that you are not holding to Roy...
Roy went back down to the Light Heavyweight division to fight tarver, johnson, and calzaghe and never returned to the heavyweight Division to prove he was the best although he said he was the best and had a belt.
QUESTION:
How would you guys feel and would you be mad if Floyd came back and went back down to the Jr. Welter weight divsion OR Lightweight and fought JMM, Hatton, and Pacquaio?
And not proved he is the best welterweight in the world,
although he had the lineal title. which technically proved he was the best in the division.

Yeah, because the jump from MW to HW (40+ lbs) is the exact same as the jump from SFW to WW (17 lbs.)And expecting Roy to fight a 6'5", 250lb top 10 ATG HW while weighing less than 200 was the exact same as expecting Mayweather to fight the shorter Miguel Cotto.
Forgetting for a minute that Roy was already 34 when he fought Ruiz, not the 30 that Floyd was when he decided to call it quits rather than face his toughest challengers.
In the end, that is what separates Floyd from guys like Leonard or Duran, who never shied away from fighting the best, especially when in their primes.Comment

Roy was entertaining to watch, something Mayweather really isn't.
Roy has a likable personality, Mayweather doesn't.
Roy fought the best, Mayweather (outside of lightweight) didn't.
You can't compare Roy and Mayweather.. at all.
This thread was a weak excuse of an attempt.
Jones career accomplishments TOWER over MayweathersComment

Hatton will get KOed by Pac and now Mayweathers 2 most notable wins will be shattered by a guy who moved up from super bantam weight.
mayweather will never get his due because he never earned it.Comment

Dude the bottomline is that most of his career highlight fights will be overshadowed by better fighters because he isnt the best.
Hatton will get KOed by Pac and now Mayweathers 2 most notable wins will be shattered by a guy who moved up from super bantam weight.
mayweather will never get his due because he never earned it.Comment

Roy was disrespected in his day just like Floyd is now. The threadstarter is playing right into the haters' hands by trying to set Roy and Floyd off against each other. In reality they should stand shoulder to shoulder because they're both in exactly the same boat: ATGs who get resented because of how great they are.Comment

And welter/light welter would be Pacquiao's what? 5th division? and you see this as a lot fairer than fighting Cotto or Margarito? Nice. I guess that would also be your equivalent of Roy Jones Jr. coming back and fighting #2 P4P Calzaghe, right?Comment
