I'm still confused on how. It shouldn't matter about the division number. It's what your weight is on fight night and who you are fighting.
With the Floyd fight; Hatton was the same as his JrWW fight time weight or around it, right?
He is not weighing in at 140 come fight time. Against Collazo, he was 158 at fight time which was the problem; too much weight.
So if Hatton is the same weight at 149, where is the problem he would have?
How can dehydrating weight of 9 pounds then rehydrated 9 pounds be better than dehydrating 2 pounds and then rehydrating 2 pounds?
Are you saying Hatton would need an advantage against Floyd?
Like, if Floyd had to drain himself of 9 pounds, he may show up "flat" instead of healthy?Comment

Probably. The thing is that Hatton doesnt look good at 147 and he does at 140. It is strange, but thats the truth.I'm still confused on how. It shouldn't matter about the division number. It's what your weight is on fight night and who you are fighting.

so you will agree that Jones is shot and Hopkins was atleast past prime when Calzaghe faced them? cuz DLH did come off an impressive KO of mayorga before floyd but I'm guessing you will be employing a double standard in this case or you will boost Jones and Hopkins as being closer to their primes than DLH was. and Judah, Hatton are not smaller than Floyd. They are atleast his size if not bigger.Last edited by -Swizzy-; 12-23-2008, 04:47 PM.Comment

I remember a 9th grade history teacher telling a few of my friends and I (because we all thought we were bad asses) that "No matter how strong, how fast, or how BAD you are... I can promise you that you will someday run into someone who is stronger, faster, and BADDER than you... and he will put you in your place."
Naturally, I kind of decided to grow up an get my act together because I knew he was right. There was no shame in my decision. I think the same could easily be said about Mayweather. No one is EVER on top forever. Mayweather was eventually going to run into a Miguel Cotto or a Paul Williams, and they were going to put him in his place.Comment

It's only because Hatton didn't face Floyd at 140. If he had to face Floyd when Floyd wanted to while he was at 140, that version of Floyd was arguably even better than the one he would later meet. Hatton was right to refuse Floyd twice back then and right to wait until he saw Floyd have a lack-luster performance against Oscar to try to strike Floyd. Of course I don't agree with him doing it this way, but, I understand why he did it.
Either way, Ricky was in great shape when he met Floyd since his team said they weren't going to allow Ricky to make the same mistake he did with Collazo and that was to be an actual welterweight who gained the usual 9+ pounds over the 147 limit. He showed up at his usual JrWW fight time weight from what I heard...which is 149.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 12-23-2008, 08:44 PM.Comment
