Until someone beats the champ, how can you be the champ?

Marquez and Pacquiao have had one fight each at 135 pounds, but because they have star power and have achieved more in other divisions, they are automatically better? I don't agree there.

Pacquiao has only fought once in the division, picked up a belt and is abandoning the division for the higher paying fights.
So what you're sayin' is that all these other guys only recognize the Goldenboy Promotions...er Ring Magazine belt? That can't be their line of reasoning...can it?

Except Juan Diaz was never the champ. He picked up alpha soup belts.

Casamayor was the champ by beating Corrales, who beat Castillo. Marquez beat Casamayor. It's not the ring belt seeing as how the ring hasnt done anything to effect the ratings or policies.

Nate Campbell beat Juan Diaz who was doing very good work in the division, but Juan Manuel Marquez is the champ in the division, one fight or not.

I understand your point, but you guys put too much credit in the Ring Lineal BS, wich I think is a title no better than the WBC or WBA,ect, ect, ect. Most of the time they give a title fight to the biggest attracttion on the Division and not to the actual deserving fighter. Plus this is a title owned by a fighter/promoter!!!!!!

My memory isn't perfect, so somebody please tell me. What am I missin' here?
Diaz had the other three belts because the other belt holders weren't the best in their division.

Castillo beat Lazcano to fill the championship after Mayweather left (1 vs 2 vacancy). Castillo lost to Corrales, Corrales became champ. Corrales lost to Casamayor (and Castillo, but that was a non title fight). Casamayor defended against Santa Cruz (gift decision, but still doesn't change hands) and Michael Katsidis. Marquez KOs Casamayor.

Please note that Juan Diaz nor Nate Campbell are not in this equation at all.

Nate campbell is the best lightweight and unifed champ. jmm is the lineal champ. pac not fighting at 135 anymore so its doesn't make sense to put him on the poll.

                      Campbell beat Diaz
                      Marquez beat Casamayor
                      Pacquiao beat Marquez

Casamayor was already beaten and had only the lineal title, while Diaz had 3 titles.
So it's Nate Campbell and Pacquiao could fight him for the title.
