Calzaghe should. He is unquestionably one of the very best of his generation along with RJJ, PAC, PBF, Hopkins and Lennox. Calzaghe never got close to being outboxed or owned as badly as Tito was against the best fighters he fought.

Trinidad is at best a 2nd tier ATG in this generation with the likes of DLH, Toney, MAB, Morales, Mosley, Tszyu.. guys who obviously had the talent to be in the top tier but fall a step short because of their failures and faults

Unbeaten records don't mean **** in my eyes. How many times did SRR lose? Or Duran?

Hatton might have remained unbeaten if he hadn't had fought the best fighter of his generation.
It's what defines Calzaghe's legacy that he has indeed never lost.

No ones comparing him to Duran or SRR so calm yourself.

        We're comparing him to Tito.

You can argue about this and that and scenarios and what if's. But Joe Calzaghe never lost in 46 fights. He looked like **** in some and his career lacked a worthy adversary at super middle but it is what is. He proved himself the best British fighter of his generation and the most dominant super middleweight in the divisions short history.

People completely overlook boxing politics when referring to Joe Calzaghe as if he was this all encompassing super hero who everybody wanted to fight. In reality in a previously American-centric boxing environment he was Euro who didn't bring money or prestige to the table.

In short people are ****s concerning Calzaghe.

Also the Hatton comparison. There has to become a point when you look at the fighters in front of you and don't look at the black and white of their resumes.

Calzaghe is capable of hanging with anyone you care to mention, whether he beats them or not is another thing. Hatton is what he is.

Calzaghe is unbeaten and reigned for over a decade. People will always make arguments for him being able to beat this or that guy because he never lost. Unlike Trinidad who to be fair his loses were mainly due to being out of his comfort zone weight class wise.
he also didn't fight another beltholder for a decade.

tito had already retired by the time joe challenged another beltholder.

tito accomplished much more in a shorter time.

despite being a few years younger than joe , tito had already unified belts at 147 , unified belts at 154 , had grabbed a 160 belt and challenging hopkins for his 160 belts 5 YEARS before joe even fought lacy.

            agreed

Trinidad probably could of stayed at WW and dominated but he chose to take on challenges EARLIER and that is why Cazlaghe is unbeaten and Trinidad is'nt, better calibre fighters closer to their prime.

I would rate Trinidad, De La Hoya, MAB, and Morales all ahead of Calzaghe. And they didn't fall short, it's called taking chances. Look at who the guys you just listed fought in their career and then look at who Joe fought, it's not even close. All those guys fought the best of the best and took risks along the way.

Trinidad beat - Camacho, Whitaker, DLH, Vargas, Oba Carr
DLH beat - Chavez, Whitaker, Quartey, Ruelas
MAB beat - Morales, Hamed, Kelly, Ayala
Morales beat - only one to beat prime Pacman, Barrera, Jones, Ayala
Calzaghe beat - Hopkins (43), shot Roy Jones, Kessler, and a rusty Eubank

Problem with this thread is most of the Brits will vote for Joe because they have never even seen Prime Trinidad except maybe his fight with DLH.

And the only other time they may have seen him is getting beat by Winky,Jones,Hopkins
