Duran is a surefire top 10 ATG for anyone who knows what they talking about. he fits in nicely somewhere between 6-9.

youre really going to count these kind of losses against Duran? the guy was a Lightweight.
notable wins?
1. Ernesto Marcel, future featherweight champ, first man to beat Alexis Arguello. Duran beat him at 130lbs, and when he was a teenager.
2. Former long reigning 130lb champ Hiroshi Kobayashi
3. 43-1 champ Ken Buchanan, who had wins over Ismael Laguna, Carlos Hernandez and went on to beat an older Carlos Ortiz
4. 2 wins over future champ Esteban DeJesus
5. Dominant win over Carlos Palomino, who had taken Benitez to a split decision in his last fight and was a Welterweight champ
6. An unbeaten Ray Leonard, and I dont think I need explain anything here. Leonard is at least in the top 5 of the Welterweight division of all time.
7. Former Welterweight champ Pipino Cuevas
8. Unbeaten Light Middleweight champ Davey Moore, who went on to beat Benitez
9. Iran Barkley, who was coming off his KO win over Hearns and went on to beat Hearns again and become a three division champ.
10. A win over Jorge Fernando Castro, a former champ who went on to have a run at Cruiserweight. Duran beat him when he was 46, and when Castro was ranked in the top 5 at Middleweight at the time.
and these are just some of the names on Duran's record. and keep in mind that during most the time that Duran was fighting, there were only 2 major belts instead of the laughable 4 that we have today. in other words...it was way harder to become a world champ than it is today.

7. Former Welterweight champ Pipino Cuevas
8. Unbeaten Light Middleweight champ Davey Moore, who went on to beat Benitezhardly the champ as you say he just held an alphabet belt
9. Iran Barkley, who was coming off his KO win over Hearns and went on to beat Hearns again and become a three division champ.

please clarify your statements, the IBF was introduced in 1980 so there were three title organizations during the time duran left lightweight and moved to welterweight. so please no excuses. as to why he could beat davey moore and iran barkley but wasn't good enough to defend either title same goes for his title win at 147 not one defence
no way you can be top 5 and not have cleaned out more than one division.

There isn't just one particular thing that make Duran a top 10 ATG, there are many. Going through them one by one and saying "beating an undefeated SRL doesn't make you an ATG" is a bit silly.

duran is a LIGHTWEIGHT.
for 12 years duran's only loss was to esteban dejesus. (which he avenged a couple of years later)
he was also the first man to ever beat sugar ray leonard. a prime sugar ray leonard.
threadstarter is a moron.
