im gonna stick up for him here because kess is one helluva talent and an awesome prospect.

i think any guy who has shown that he willing to travel to places like australia, cardiff even germany deserves a little more respect than what he is getting. even before he fought joe he has beaten a decent level of competition and beaten them soundly, mundine, beyer etc.

i think after the joe fight, i could understand him not wanting to take on pantera, miranda is a dangerous fighter, mikkel was coming off a loss and back to back losses would have derailed his career. once he claimed the WBA belt he had to take on the mandatory apparently, but now he is free to dictate which fight he wants. he is the no.1 in a deep division and even if he doesn't get a fight like taylor or froch a win over inkin, miranda or bika would look good on his resume.

personally i hope he goes for bika or miranda, both are big draws, well known names and exciting fighters. whats more both would jump at the chance to fight him in the US, and right now that is what kess needs he doesn't need another mandatory or another belt he needs a name. the guy is nearly 30 now and another useless fight would be taking the p!ss.

in short the next few months wont just dictate who he fights but they may well dictate his career.

well said. I'm just tired of seeing the guy rated among the top 15-20 in the world when he's never done anything to prove it. if your division sucks, so what? move up or down or fight at catchweights but do SOMETHING with your career. don't be another Felix Sturm

A solid boxer in Kessler but nothing too spectacular. The only reason he lost to Calz is because Calz is a hyperactive little girl.

I am a Kessler fan but I admit that up to this point his competition has been poor.

There are people on here who think his resume is better than Dawson's. To me that is madness.

Hopefully Mikkel gets over to the US or at least faces some top quality opposition soon otherwise he will simply allow his talent to go to waste. A Froch fight would be a pretty good starting point.

Well, while he may be slightly overrated by some, he is not actually that rated at the moment. Also, his resume is not nearly as bad as you think it is Fuego. It is not a great resume by any stretch, but it is not a bad resume. It is a solid resume that has some good fighters along with some very good fighters. The only great fighter on it is the one he lost to, but he has beaten quite a number of champions and still has a ways to go before calling it a day.

Give it a bit more time before calling him trash and a Euro coward. See what he does in '09 and if by the end of it he hasn't done anything, than and only then, should we start calling him a fool for not taking greater opportunity of his standing. He's a good fighter with lots of potential as long as he does eventually use it.

Kessler's claim to fame is losing to Calzaghe.

                Kessler > Anyone at 160-168.

He needs to step up his competition though. His resume's better than Pavlik's though.

He wasted his 2008 and fell into the Euro pattern of hiding overseas your whole career until all the legit opponents either get too old (Calzaghe) or you're ready to cash out and call it a career (Hatton). And, if you do take a real challenge and lose (like he did against Calzaghe), never step up again (the Sturm way).

So again I ask, what is there to like about a guy that fights no one?

Even Carl Froch has a better resume than Kessler

Honestly, if we're going based on potential, then Zab Judah is worlds better than Kessler. And he certainly has a better resume than Mikkel despite the losses.

Again, why does this guy have a fanbase?

                  Your an idiot.

Firstly Carl Froch resume isnt 10% of Kesslers.

Secondly the most over-rated fighter is Chad Dawson.

I don't think Kessler is overrated at all. He has some solid wins over guys like Beyer, Mundine, Andrade, etc. He's no ATG, But I think he is a damn good fighter. He just needs to stop bull ****ting, And fight guys like Taylor, WW, Dawson.

Kesslers is overrated, he's a nobody

You shouldn't rip on Hatton though, I think he actually wanted to test himself - not just a cash in. I respect Hatton for going after the best, he's going after Pacquiao to. I can see why he has a lot of fans.

Calzaghe is a fraud, waited in Europe his entire career till the great fighters get old, gets a horrible decision over Hopkins and beat a shot Jones and can't even knock him out even though Tarver did it in 2 rounds. Fraud.
