Kessler: most overrated fighter on the planet?

The guy seems to be a good fighter but has never proved it. His best win is over a fellow Euro trash champion in Markus Beyer. My question is why does Kessler have any followers when he hasn't accomplished anything in boxing as of yet? He wasted his 2008 and fell into the Euro pattern of hiding overseas your whole career until all the legit opponents either get too old (Calzaghe) or you're ready to cash out and call it a career (Hatton). And, if you do take a real challenge and lose (like he did against Calzaghe), never step up again (the Sturm way).

So again I ask, what is there to like about a guy that fights no one?

Even Carl Froch has a better resume than Kessler

Honestly, if we're going based on potential, then Zab Judah is worlds better than Kessler. And he certainly has a better resume than Mikkel despite the losses.

Again, why does this guy have a fanbase?

Yea, and what really makes it a shame is I think if he fought elite fighters he would more than hold his own. But it's like we're never gonna get to see that and I don't understand it at all. He, more than anyone really, needs to step up.

I agree he's overrated. He seems to be a good fighter but his biggest accomplishment was losing to Calzaghe, aside from beating a list of Danish fisherman.

Yeah I'm not saying he's a bad fighter at all. He looks really good, but look who he's fighting against. I mean Zab Judah looked like a world beater until he ran into Kostya Tszyu. Point is anybody can look good against **** opposition.

Ratings should be based on resume, not potential. Otherwise, Mayweather's been top 10 pfp his whole career.

I actually took this thread seriously until you claimed Froch has a better resume.

Kessler is the best SMW but is overrated.

If Kessler had fought an equal caliber of American opponents in the US, you'd think he was great. JMO.

I dont think hes overrated, if you seen a few of his fights his technique is almost flawless, the way he moves and punches is fluid. Its textbook, but technique is can only get you so far and is only one piece of the puzzle.
