Really? What makes you think he can win? Wouldn't the fight already been made if Joe could win? I mean, he never got a title at LHW and that was his chance. None ATG, except for the HWs for obvious reasons, were one division champions only. It's very hard to put Joe even in a special hall of fame without lowering the bar so much everyone above average would get in. A win over Dawson would change that allot, would make him look better than he ever has. The original poster has a point when he says Joe has never fought a prime proven opponent, something EVERY ATG did. It's kinda of a waste also if you have talent to waste it in NOT trying, which lead to two possible conclusions the way i see it. Either Joe's people are very ****** or he doesn't have the required talent. I don't think they're very ******.

His speed, experience and awkwardness would win him the fight IMO, Calzaghe's camp has valid claims that Dawson doesn't bring enough money to the table, not that many people know who he is right now, maybe the rumored Tarver fight in March on HBO will change that because I think HBO will use that fight to push for Dawson-Calzaghe.

And Calzaghe should already be in the HOF with all that he has accomplished, if you consider Hopkins an ATG because of his resume and accomplishments, then Calzaghe should be one too.

Joe is picking his fights carefully at this point because he wants to retire unbeaten. People need to realize that there is a reason why Joe fought Jones instead of Dawson. People say Dawson is not accomplished, but do you really think Kessler's resume was better? Joe had no problem fighting him.

Dawson punches harder than Hopkins does and is certainly faster and bigger. I would say Adamek has a better chin than Joe does and Dawson staggered him with a counter right hook off the ropes( which Joe would be vulnerable to against another southpaw). Don't let anyone fool you, he has power.

Yeah but Calzaghe wasn't fighting Adamek, he fought Jones who had not won a big fight in years and going into that fight, everyone knew what would happen. My point was that Johnson and Tarver( Dawson's last two opponents) has already beaten Jones, and people criticize Dawson for fighting 40 year old even though they were still at the top of their divisions. I am just not a fan of double standards.

You seem to have missed my point. It's tiresome for me personally to come on here and see one side only look at the positives of Dawson and ignore the negatives, while the other side does the exact same thing for Calzaghe.

The aim of you and most others is to do your best to make the guy you support look as good as possible, while making the opponent/potential opponent look as bad as possible.

Calzaghe is smarter than we all think, he knows that Dawson has a bad style for him. Don't be suprised if he looks at the winner of Froch and Pascal for a farewell fight instead.
