The only way we can monitor a fighter's current ability is by observing
how he performs, when tested to his limits by good competition.

Now, if all a fighter ever fights are tomato cans and worn out boxers,
the sort that he can volume-slap to a decision win, then no one can really
say that he's so good. In fact, ducking the best opposition actually suggests
the fighter can't match up, which discourages ranking him high on any
      P4P list.

      That clear enough for you?
excellent post..this is exactly whats going on. It makes it even more logical because both these guys (Jones and Hopkins) were winning the early rounds. What makes it even worse is that Jones didn't even have any legs and he was doing well in the first few rounds. Calzaghe is just volume slapping these old guys and they can't keep up. He's a fraud.

who did he fight from 1997 to 2005 , tunney?

and he gets to be #2-3 in that time?

wlad has a better resume than that and most guys won't even put him in the top 10.

Ali would not be regarded as highly as he is, if he did not fight top tier competition the way he did... beating and winning against nobodies does not mean you have great boxing ability.. it means you can beat nobodies... beating top tier competition throughout your entire career means you are top 10 p4per... had ALI not fought the competition he did, he wouldnt of been regarded so highly... its half of what made him an atg
