Not at all. Hatton is generally recognised as the undisputed Junior Welterweight champion and he doesn't hold a single alphabet title. If Calzaghe fought Dawson, the winner would be recognised by almost everyone as the undisputed Light Heavyweight champion even if there was no alphabet belt on the line. If Campbell and Marquez fought at Lightweight now, the winner would be recognised by pretty well everyone as the undisputed Lightweight champion.

No doubt Pac Man is Awesome!

i enjoyed this article, and i have a question: is anyone with me on DLH looked horrible on saturday? im not saying he was over weight nor off his game but unhealthy. He had no muscle tone, no physique whatsoever. he was never the strongest looking boxer however this display from saturday was nothing short of an imaciated unhealthy starved jockey. its aparent to me that making weight this time for this fight was too much a toll on his body. His business man celebrity lifestyle change of the past 5 years has had a physciological effect where i believe he can no longer compete healthy at any weight under the 154 mark anymore. I believe Pac Man would of beat him regardless, however not at such a lop sided display as the DLH we all love hasnt been around since the Vargas fight. I think though that the DLH that came up in his hay day is unbeatable in today's division at 147#. its unfortunate but lay offs are worse than over fighting and he has lost a lot on his game by fighting once a year as he has been since his return from his musical stint. I believe Pac Man has the potential to be an Armstrong however he will need a bit more time to work on his defense for now. He is awesome but I believe he could be embarrassed in a fight against a super fighter because he leaves his chin out there, although its granite, he's still human. I consider Pac Man is a Roberto "hands of stone" Duran right now but definitely on his way to becoming an Armstrong. Better yet I want him to be the fighters they compare the future greats as a potentioal Pac Man. I love him, hell my name is Manny too LOL. However I'm not crazy about how he beat up a starved DLH, which didnt know what he was putting his body thru during training. DLH had to weigh 147 on official day and 160 fight night, but his diet and starvation had him come in on fight night lighter than a man 5 inches shorter. Freddy Roach spoke the bible when he gave his opinion as to why during his pre-fight interview with Larry Merchant. 160# DLH would of look similar to how he look against Mayweather Jr. Now all Manny needs is to beat up Hatton (now while in his prime) and a Tim Bradley Jr. or some one of that caliber and give Mayweather (if he doesnt duck) his first loss before too much time goes by and that starts being used as an excuse. In closing i love Pac Man, as i do DLH however i didnt like Saturday's fight for so many reasons but especially because DLH was a shadow of what he's was in his glory.

Then it's all mythical then, not official. Hatton is not the undisputed champion at jr. welter, and I'm sure Bradley, Witter and Kozelnik will agree with me, but he might be the best and the most recognizable man at that division, the most recognizable only needs a stamp to be official, but the "best" is just mythical, until everybody fights everybody...

Spot on, IMO. I do think he deserves the pound for pound title already but I don't think he can be compared with Armstrong unless he cleans up at Lightweight and Junior Welterweight (Roach has made it clear he doesn't want Pac to fight the top Welterweights).

Hopkins is the no.3 P4P according to The Ring, and recently outclassed the no.1 Middleweight, but he is still past his peak. I think a peak Hopkins would easily have beaten Calzaghe - Hopkins lost because he got tired.

Actually I was open minded, I wasn't sure one way or the other. I knew Roach has a great reputation for honesty, so I didn't think he was just hyping the fight, I thought he meant what he said; and I didn't see why Valero would say what he said either if he didn't believe it was true, so although I thought even a past-it De La Hoya might be too big for Pacqiuao, I just wasn't sure. A lot of people who predicted a win for DLH also said they weren't sure and pointed out that Roach has a reputation for honesty.

I was addressing this to Ferocity, who has always had an excuse and will never be satisfied unless Pacquiao fights Arreola.

I agree with just about everything that is said. I really like Manny but to compare him with legends is too premature. He's fought some great champions and hall of famers but almost all of them were well past their prime. It's not Manny's fault but it's the truth. Marquez in my opinion deserved the draw the 1st fight and actually won the 2nd fight (which most people feel about the 2nd fight) Now if he actually fights Marquez again, he'll probably win because Marquez is now in his mid 30's and that fight doesn't look to be happening anytime soon. Diaz was never very good. On to Hatton now. Hatton is good but again, at the end of his career which he himself has noted. He does however have the punch to hurt Manny and he also fights 3minutes of every round. But Manny should win that fight. I think Manny needs to conquer the 135lb weight class then move to 140 to see what's there. He won't be able to handle Margarito, Cotto, Williams or even Berto at 147. His train should stop at 140. Anything more than that he'll be fighting guys that are closer to their prime, bigger and stronger that can hurt him. Manny is a great fighter, just not a legend or a legend yet. Especially not a legend that beat an aged, well past his prime and weakend De La Hoya.

Witter and Kozelnik would like people to agree with you but in their hearts I believe they know they won't be recognised by anyone else unless they beat Hatton. I don't know of any independent ratings that don't have Hatton at no. 1 at Junior Welterweight. I don't know any that don't have Pavlik at no. 1 at Middleweight even though there are other alphabet title holders at Middleweight. Since the alphabet madness started, IMO, you have to go with the independent ratings, (e.g. The Ring) and ignore the alphabet ratings.
