My Problems With SOME Puerto Rican fans

When I say some I mean SOME not ALL. But it just irks me a lot that some Puerto Ricans are so ****** into their nationality that they let their pride cloud their boxing judgement.

When Felix Trinidad was big and dominate everyone knew he was a great champion. But the way some Ricans thought about him in some of his fights were mind boggling.

When he fought Bernard Hopkins a lot of Ricans were saying "Hopkins is gonna get killed" "Tito is gonna knocked him out" "Who is Bernard Hopkins", I was like are you serious? I give Tito a chance but to completely discredit a guy like Hopkins is crazy especially with his defensive skills. They did the same thing when he fought Winky Wright and even more boggling they thought Roy had ZERO chance.

I thought Cotto was gonna beat Tony as well but the way my friends where talking about Tony was crazy. Saying **** like he was gonna get knocked out, I mean I thot Cotto would win but I knew that Tony had a great chin, great stamina, and performed well against a lot of credible opponents.

Now that the Juanma train is started to roll i'm hearing Ricans have that same talk again.

Even on here some of you guys are talking like Juanma would wipe the floor with Marquez and Vasquez.

I mean I would give him a shot too but dam its Vasquez and Marquez, did you not just see them fight?? There resume aint just Figueroa's and Medinas.

I dont want to make it look like i'm just beefin with Ricans, trust me I got mad love for PR and both my best friends is Ricans, and I got no problem ya support ya fights, as a matter of fact I think its so cool that a parade of Ricans be greeting fighters at the airports, I can only imagine how Tito and Cotto and whoever feel when they get that love.

I'm just saying dont just think ya man is gonna win 100 percent without doing some research.

I mean during the Cotto-Margarito saga, a lot of Ricans were makin the case to fight Floyd and the mexicans on here were like, hold on dont count out Tony. and we saw what happen.

Like I said not no beef wit no race but after last night's win, some of my Rican homies were sayin **** like Juanma could move up and beat Pac Man, i'm like

This is the problem I have when arguing with them. But the same can be said about other Races too.

Blacks do it with Black boxers

Mexicans do it too, I've seen it.

Europeans with Euro boxers. Especially the UK.

      And Pinoys with Pac.

Without that passion they wouldnt be the boxing force that they are. I wish more Mexican fans had that same level of passion for boxing instead of soccer

Yea I understand perfectly, the problem I have is some "hardcore Puerto Rican fans" discredit them for losing one fight and abandon them in the dark.

There was a ****** article in the newspaper not long ago about a person saying the Puerto Rican people were never going to forgive Cotto for taking that knee instead of fighting till the end. Another one was about how Juanma was going to be the next big thing, because now that Cotto lost a fight, there isn't as much demand for him as it was when he was undefeated.

O I agree, I'm from the Northeast so I see the puerto rican side of it more frequently but mexicans do it too although Margarito fans gave Cotto a fair chance to win.

Black fans are hit and miss. The real black fans are fans of every race but support there fighters, the fake black fans are just urban "gangsta types" who dont know boxing and go towards mayweather cuz he acts like a rapper with the money throwing and ***elry

If I remember correctly, Daniel Santos said PR don't love you unless you're winning.

I think you get that with damn near any boxing fan. I find American fight fans like myself to be the least biased around here. I give credit where credit is due, I have no allegiance or duty to any nationality.

And I've never talked to a black fan on here who only liked black fighters either. Maybe the Mayweather crowd, but serious black posters here know who they are and give credit to all fighters who are deserving of it.

I will say the ignorent Rican fans I know never abandoned Cotto, or even Tito. While they come up wit BS about why Cotto lost to Tony, they still give Tony no chance in the rematch. And with Tito, they admit he's done and are sad he's shot but still cheer for him.

I give boxing scene Ricans credit. I saw a lot of you rocking pics of Juanma when he was on the contender level and was a minor titleholder. So you guys been knew about him and didnt just jump the wagon when he beat De Leon
