Ricky Hatton was the champion at 140, hence why his belt wasn't removed. Floyd Mayweather was also the champion at 147, but ranked at 154. Joe Calzaghe was until a couple of weeks ago, champion at 168 and 175.

What a ****** reply. GBP has done nothing to the actual rankings nor the articles of The Ring. The only thing they have changed is the better website, the apparrel, and more advertisements. They've done better with it imo.

yeah, but you gotta believe that the editors don't want to get on dlh's bad side.

I dont think thats a fair statement, I think as long as he made the weight, he had the right to fight there.
Problem is nobody down there was willing to fight him, so he had to do what was best for his career and take it up the ladder. It definitely sucks for him, but with Williams down there we may have never had a true 147 pounds champ cause people might have kept avoiding him.
At least now we have the best two WWs fighting for a real World Championship Belt, and Paul Williams in a division where people will actually fight him and he may get the same opportunity.

will manny still be ranked @ 135 even tho he is fighting at 147 and plans to fight at 140?

gotta love the r.a.c.i.s.m of boxing. cotto was supposed to face paul williams and the winner was to face the mosley margartio winner. low and behold we get a letter from arum telling al to keep williams away from his fighters.

no way can ring sanction margarito vs cotto for the ring title, they will lose all respectability in my eyes and become worthless

Was it racism when Ring had Floyd p4p numero uno?

Or was it racist when they named him figher of the year?

Manny probably won't be ranked at 135 much longer is my guess, especially if he signs a fight with Hatton. If he beats DLH, he'll probably enter the Welter ratings too.

I emailed Nigel Collins, editor of The Ring to ask a question about something similiar to this (has to do more with Mosley), so it's kind of simliar. If he replies, and he usually does since I've emailed him two other times, I'll reply asking that question.

Why can't the dumbass Wililam fans understand this!

Williams should have keep his ass at welterweight and keep fighting on.

Took Margarito YEARS to get to the position he is at now. Yet, people feal sad for Williams because he can't get a shot, **** Williams, put in work at welterweight and you'll get your shot. Williams abondened his title it wasn't taken away.

But moving up changes every momentum he had at welterweight especially when he couldn't even make a succesfull title defence he had to win the title back from Quintanna and instead of keeping his ass at welterweight he moves up because we all now Wililams was having problems making welterweight.

Plenty of names at welterweight for Williams to fight but his decision was to move up, well good luck. But William fans stop your crying!
