even if floyd did come back... even if he never left... he would never ever ever fight paul williams... ever.

Floyd did'nt handle Castillo too well in their first fight. It appeared like Floyd was the one who got figured out by the middle rounds. If anybody can use that gameplan in an attempt to defeat Floyd, it's Paul Williams.Williams advantages in height and reach mean nothing against Mayweather.
Mayweather knows how to handle any style.
Height and reach mean nothing when you don't use it to your advantage and watching williams fight he has never used those advantages.
He does have a high workrate but what is the best weapons against a high workrate ??? accurate Counters which mayweather does very well and lateral movement which Mayweather also does very well, include that Mayweather has the best defense in the sport where williams appears to be hittable.
Mayweather clear UD 100 times out of 100.
If Floyd fought 100 times at all, it would take him 50 years in boxing. 39 wins in 11 years is not that impressive. Especially when he only fought good fighters a hand full of time in his career. One could argue that he made his name off of mostly fighting low risk fights. he would go nowhere near Cotto or Margarito. Hell he would not even face Oscar again in fear of losing before he hung them up. I Think Floyd is a marvelous fighter but I cannot respect his career as a whole. Not with the talent he dodged and left behind and not with all that unfinished business.Last edited by Chase8400; 12-03-2008, 11:52 AM.Comment

Can you imagine what that fight would be like? I'd have to give it to Frazier
What about: Sugar Ray Robinson vs. Bernard Hopkins...oooo...that's a good one.Comment

I know i know i know....that's why it's irritating. Everyone's anticipating that he'll come back. But i say, stay retired. If you say you're retired, then stay retire.

I say the same thing but when I picture myself in those shoes I would come back too. The almighty dollar unfortunately has allot of say-so in a professional athletes career. Especially in boxing.
I don't blame anyone for coming back for a good payday even though i wish Jones would have retired after beating Tarver in their first fight. That was the sign he should have taken and hung them up. No way Tarver should have came remotely close to beating Jones and he just didn't realize that. But his fans did.Comment

Floyd has a great defense and Williams gets hit quite a lot. Paul is very active but hes not that fast and he gives up his height, i dont think he can keep floyd at bay. Floyd is a master and even if i think Paul would be a very difficult fight for him, i can see this ending as an UD for Mayweather. Paul's loss to Quintana can only enforce this view. Im a Paul williams fan, and i think he can give hell to all the other welters, but Floyd in my opinion, hes simply too skilled.Comment
