if he beats pascal then he'll fight taylor next and all questions will be answered
Carl Froch The Next Big British Star?
Collapse

have you watched many of his fights? And how can you tell that from a 23(19)-0 record?
He took 11 rounds to dispose of an poor Magee, and i've yet too see anything in him that makes me believe he can cut it at the World much less the Elite level.
That was the question after all.Comment

Where there is a Froch thread, there is a black.ink post.
To answer the thread question, David Haye is the next big British star when Hatton and Calzaghe have retired.
As for now, Froch has potential to be big, as no-one really knows how good he is. I've followed him from his 5th pro fight and he's not as slow or poorly defensed as some think, although he underestimates his opponents at times. In a majority of his fights, the first couple rounds are where Froch feels out his opponent. If he feels the opponents shots cannot hurt him, he lets his guard down and relies on his power. This could spell trouble when the competition steps up, and although he hasn't really been hurt (showing signs of a granite chin), his competition has been of a poor standard.
Pascal is a step up in class from what he's been fed, although his camp are not entirely at fault, as for the past couple years he has been avoided by many top contenders as he is simply too much risk, with very little reward.
This will change for the better if he beats Pascal. He will hold the WBC title which no fighter will turn down the chance to fight for. The SMW division has some very elite fighters, and if he can land anyone from Kessler, Taylor, Bute, Andrade, Pavlik among his next few fights, then we will truly see where Froch stands.
The answer will rely on the 6th December.Comment

Well I got this odd feeling that no top yank will step in the ring with Froch. I'm beginning to think the same will be the case for Mikkel Kessler.Where there is a Froch thread, there is a black.ink post.

For both fighters the risk/reward ratio probably just isn't there. So maybe, just maybe, Froch will be offered a large chunk of cash to fight a unification-fight in Copenhagen this spring.Comment

Possibly, although if Froch has a WBC title, i'm sure his following would grow and a fight in England with Kessler would be more ideal then Denmark.Well I got this odd feeling that no top yank will step in the ring with Froch. I'm beginning to think the same will be the case for Mikkel Kessler.

I don't suppose you think any Yank would want to bring the both over to their shores do you?.................No, me neither.Comment

From what I've read on this board, Froch isn't a big draw in England ATM. I could be wrong though and I'm sure you're better informed than me.Possibly, although if Froch has a WBC title, i'm sure his following would grow and a fight in England with Kessler would be more ideal then Denmark.

I'm certain that a Froch-Kessler fight in Copenhagen will draw 30,000 people to Parken Stadium. Kessler's popularity in his homecountry is soaring following he's latest blow-out win over the limited Haussler. The fight was on national TV and over 20% of the entire danish population watched the fight.Comment

He'll get one of those if he beats Pascal which even those who don't rate him seem to think he has a good chance of doing. After that, hopefully he can get fights against the likes of Bute, Taylor, Andrade and Kessler and we can find out how good, or otherwise, he actually is.Comment

In reply to BatTheMan
He's not a big draw at the moment, but i was saying with a World Title around his waist, and with Hatton and Calzaghe on the way out, the UK will be looking for it's new representitives. Haye and Froch are the men to take the mantle.
Through UK Boxing fans, Kessler is mainly known as the best SMW after Calzaghe, and a fight between Froch and Kessler would draw big interest, especially to see how Froch would fair against a former Calzaghe opponent who is still regarded as being prime.
But 30,000 people is a big crowd, although Froch's only interest of a fight abroad lies in America.Comment
