Who beat the better Hopkins: Jones or Calzaghe?

I think we can all agree that neither version of Hopkins can be considered the prime version, but which is the more impressive victory? I'm not talking about the method of victory by the way and nor am I interested if you think Hopkins beat Calzaghe. Calzaghe beat Hopkins, that is a fact.* Who beat the better Hopkins?

    * I look forward to explaining to the hard-of-thought that this is in fact a fact.

Jones because when a fighter is incapable of sustaining action in a fight he is on his way to winning because of his age he is being handicapped

A case for both but I'd say Calzaghe - Hopkins had by then developed all the knowledge and ring savvy. The only thing you could say going in the other direction is that Jones beat a fresher more youthful Hopkins.

Jones, Hopkins was young and in his prime. Calzaghe win over Hopkins is disupted and he was knocked down and Hopkins was 43 years old

I can appreciate your opinion if you're saying that a younger, fresher Hopkins is better than an older version, but do you seriously think he was in his prime? Having fought nobody of note, having not had a World title fight, you think he was in his prime?

Also, as I mentioned in the first post, I'm not interested in the method of the victory at all. I'm interested in which version of Hopkins you think is better.

In another thread they will say the fight wasn't close, he gassed, he didn't throw punches, he held, he headbutted, got his ass kicked. But Im sure they will vote for old Hopkins in this poll so Joe looks better

Put it this way: Old Hopkins out smarts Young Hopkins to a points descision in a boxing match.

                So the answer is Calzaghe

Just so you understand, this thread aint about making any fighter look better or worse. I just think that's it's a genuinely interesting and difficult question to answer. I admit I'm a Calzaghe fan, but that don't make me a nuthugger. Roy Jones happens to be in my top five of all-time, a list Calzaghe doesn't make.

Calzaghe closely beat the more experienced, smarter Hopkins.

Jones clearly beat the physically better Hopkins.

I give the edge to Joe though.
