I agree that he wasn't as big a puncher and Jackson, but I disagree with some of your reasoning. For example you criticise Benn for not doing much damage to Collins in 2 fights, even though he was shot by then and his heart wasn't in it anymore. But what about the fact that Hearns did less damage to Barkley in 2 fights than Benn did to him in one round?

It's true that Barkley was stopped on the 3KD rule, but it's still very impressive.

He didn't do much damage to Watson, but that's because Watson was smart and covered up very well, so Benn wasn't able to land flush. Benn did land solidly on Eubank in the first fight and he hurt Eubank a couple of times, even though Eubank was the bigger man on the night and had a very good chin.

Even though Benn did knock out a lot of nobodies, I think that you can still tell something about his power from those fights. For example most boxers beat a lot of nobodies by KO/TKO when they were prospects, but not in the same brutal fashion that Benn did it. Benn had people out cold, and staggering around, not being able to control their legs etc.

styles make fights Eubank did more damage to Collins than Benn did and i thought he hurt Mike Watson more than Benn did allthough Benn hit harder

i dont think Eubank was ever hurt from a head shot body shots yes but

be honest some of Benn's first 20 odd oponents look like they had been paid to take a dive they looked so soft it was unreal

I know you are a pretty reasonable guy so please answer this.

Did you or did you not see Benn hit Barkley twice when he was down the 1st time? Did you see Benn hit him again as he arose from the knockdown?

Did you see Benn blatantly take a full power shot at the back of Barkley's head as he was on the canvas for the second time?

Benn was a dirty piece of **** and the BArkley fight was a travesty. The best punches Benn landed were illegal blows and the one that hit him the second time while he was down hurt him badly.

Tommy Hearns could not knock Barkley out in a fair fight. Had Benn fought by the rules he would not have stopped Iran. Mostly it is the ref's fault for letting it get out of hand but not many fighters will smash a fallen man like Benn was ready to do everytime he dorpped someone.

Benn did used to rabbit punch quite a bit well not rabbit punch but he used to throw a clubbing right hand stroke hook he did De Witt with the same punch when he was on the ropes

              At 160 I'd back Benn's power against anyone's.

              ANYONE'S.

Benn obviously did more damage to McClellan than Jackson, and hurt Eubank pretty bad more than any other fighter.

Benn didnt have Jacksons amazing power but i believe it was his aggression and power punching style that people admire.
