I agree with you. Witter did lose the fight. He was poor. He threw nothing all night. If you read my post again i was just stating the fact that Witter still only lost on a split decision. Rightly or wrongly, that was the outcome.

I think a re-match would be a great fight actually.

The first fight wasnt a mandatory, It was an optional/voluntary fight that forrest took with Sergio mora so he had the rematch clause in it in case he lost which actually happened.

I'm not sure how valid that is...

            You might be right though.

To be honest i was shocked with what i saw from Witter on that night, I have been watching him on Hatton undercards and i alway believe that he has the style to beat Hatton.

But i think we all know why he was so lackluster now which we didnt know at the time.

Yeah you cant have a rematch clause in a mandatory fight only voluntary/optional fights.

Remember why Paulie Maglinaggi had to fight lovemore Ndou twice??== it was because Ndou took paulie m on a voluntary defence.

Remember why Hasim Rahman had to fight Lennox lewis again even though Don king try for the fight not to happen?? Because it was a Voluntary defence by Lewis so he had a rematch clause inserted.

Well I know that you can put a rematch clause for a voluntary or unification (IE Wright-Mosley), but... I just have never run into anything that talked about whether there could be a rematch clause in a mandatory defense.

I've actually always wondered how that worked. Couldn't the #1 contender ask for a 99-1 split for himself, and then when the champion declined (obviously), wouldn't they be stripped and the #1 contender would likely get an easier fight for a vacant belt with the #2 contender?

I did try to think pretty hard for a mandatory defense that had a rematch clause, and couldn't come up with one... a second opinion agreeing with you would be awesome from someone...

I am not interested in seeing a Floyd Hatton rematch, if it was anyone else Hatton wouldn't even be mentioned by Floyd for a rematch it was fairly one sided and it would just be for £££, i would much rather see Hatton stay at 140lb and fight Pac, then if Bradley can unify a belt or win a rematch with Witter get his chance against Hatton. I couldn't care less about Hatton's bank balance i just want to see the best fights.

Junior witter was there for the taking, he was sticking his arm out like a snake
Are snakes inclined to stick their arms out? lol

Who's a better contender at this point?

                      Hatton just beat Malignaggi.

Torres and Holt are tied up with each other.

I can't see anyone else in this terrible division that would be a better opponent for Hatton at this point.

If you say Marquez or Pacquiao, I'm probably going to laugh at you, because they don't have anything that is the equivalent of a Witter win at 140, right?
Bradley is certainly the best contender for Hatton at 10st. But he isn't even close to the best fight for Hatton. Hatton would benefit more from fighting Pacquiao or Oscar, failing that then he could fight Marquez, even Juan Diaz...

And Hatton has fallen into the trap of all dominant champions: If they only beat THIS GUY then they'll seal their greatness forever... And every time they beat the number one contender the number one contender falls a few places. If you go off Ring magazine ratings Hatton has now defeated two number one contenders (Malignaggi and Castillo), the linear champ (Tszyu), three other top ten guys (Urango, Tackie, Lazcano), a top ten guy at Welterweight (Collazo) and lost to the best fighter in the world. Since Hatton burst onto the elite stage by defeating Kostya he's actually fought some decent competition. But every time he beats the number one contender there'll be another one.

Now it's Bradley. Next it would be Witter. Then it would be Kotelnik. Then Torres or Holt... Much better to fight some big names.
