lolololololololol. NO!!! IBO, isn;t even a real organization. Eubanks is the only one that stands out there, and he was well past it at the time. While I agree that Lacy was a bit of a hype-job. It wasn't until he fought Lacy that he trully won his first world title. Being apart of BWAA, lineal titles are the only ones that hold significance to me. Big fights can happen without a title on the line, but lineal titles are the only ones that trully matter when talking about legacy. The thorough beating that Calzaghe gave Lacy in such a big fight (It established the 1st true SMW champion) is a testament to what he should've been doing years ago when he was pissing away his career fighting so-so guys. He should've fought Sven Ottke, and should've fought Roy Jones about 6 years ago. Win or lose (if he fought Ottke in Germany he would've lost no matter how bad he would've beaten him) it would've done more for his legacy than beating a 100 Omar Shiekas. Jeff Lacy gave Joe Calzaghe is chance to shine, and ever since (minus the two defenses against Mandfredo and Bika) Joe has been fighting the best fights. Too bad he didn't start that 7 years ago when it would've served him best. So Lacy was his first big fight, her threw away years of credibility before that.

Jones wasn't going to fight Joe 6 years ago and the SMW division didn't have lots of big names for Joe to fight. It had plenty of solid fighters and Joe fought most of them.

I don't see how fighting Ottke in Germany (where JC needed a KO to win) would have helped his career. The haters here at NSB would just link to boxrec and say Ottke "exposed" Joe even though the decision was rigged.

Not a lot, but some. Roy was obviously dead when he came back from HW. It's the same with Hopkins when he fought Tarver; not a lot given the circumstances.

Calzaghe has a lot more left than Roy had when he faced Tarver, and Tarver when he faced Hopkins.


Dawson should get credit if he beats Calzaghe, just not a ton. More than Tarver and Hopkins though.
