Sorry I'll clear it up. He was talking about how Hearns beat up Benitez and I pointed out SRL already beat him. Benitez was very good, but SRL stopped him something the power punching Hearns couldn't do and wasn't the fight like 3-4 years after SRL beat him? Maybe he was closer to prime when SRL won. As far as the Duran win don't forget it was 3 divisions above Durans best and he would go on to lose to Laing in his next fight who's no ones idea of an ATG...well maybe chicano's idk. But Duran was sliding until his confidence regaining win over Moore a few years after those bouts.
Can someone be an ATG...

Acting ****** and this coming from the guy who implied Cal isn't an Hof'er lmao. Cal is a clear HoF'er, the others are doubtful but I wouldn't rule out Tarver or Johnson getting in. If Barry made it why can't they? Time will tell there.Comment

Indeed. Nonetheless, those losses (Hearns and Leonard) were when Benitez was still in what I would call his prime. After his Hearns loss is when he slowly started to slide. He never won a title after Hearns but he beat some great champions and was the reigning champ when Hearns beat him.Sorry I'll clear it up. The Leonard loss doesn't mean that Benitez wasn't a great fighter still. He clearly was by the wins he had after it. Hearns beating him was a very big win for him. Anyone that beat Benitez while he was still in his title winning days is a great fighter. That cannot be questioned in my opinion.Comment

Yes but it's kinda like saying that Hop beat Tito in his prime and a few years later while still in his physical prime Winky did. Hop beat the arguably better Tito, and SRL may have beaten the arguably better Benitez, wouldn't you agree?Indeed. I already told you, I never said he wasn't. That hard to understand??
But there is still doubt, there is no doubt in DLH's loses that they are future HOFs.Comment

hernandez was in his prime when the drag queen beat him, he was old when floid got him. hernandez and a shot whitaker ( no one can argue pernell isn't an alltime great) are probably dlh's best wins. dela fishnets will get into the HOF because it's easier to get in now, like with everything else, if someone is good at something we say they are a genius, the best ever, etc, when it's not really true. whitaker is an all time great, RJJ is, but i think dlh is more like a B+ level fighter who won a gold medal and is really pretty so we all think he's alot better than he is
LOL, being dropped by a jab from sugar ray leonard isn't like getting dropped from joe the bum's jab. floyd patterson got knocked out by ali's jab, tooI'm a little confused by this statement. What exactly does it mean? Are you saying because he got dropped by a jab that he wasn't an amazingly great fighter and that Hearns beating him means nothing because of it? Toney got dropped by a jab also and he has one of the greatest chins and defenses in boxing history, so does that make him a really bad fighter all of a sudden? Does it make every guy that beat him a joke because he was dropped by a jab?
So he was dropped by a jab. He is also the youngest ever champion and did it beating the great Antonio Cervantes at 140. After a number of title defenses he moved up to WW where he took the title from the WW great Carlos Palomino. He then lost his first fight in about thirty to Leonard, and happened to be dropped 'by a jab'. After being dropped by a jab he moved up to Jr MW and beat Maurice Hope for the title and also beat the great Duran there. His next loss was to Hearns. Two losses to ATG's so far, but he was dropped by a jab.
In his prime, during his title reigning days, he lost twice in about forty fights while fighting the best fighters. Twice and that was to Sugar Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns. Yes, he was dropped by a jab. What exactly are you saying?Comment

Well, not necessarily. In that case 'Tito' was coming off a long lay-off and hadn't been a title holder since losing to Hopkins four years prior. He had only had two fights since the Hopkins loss, none of which was a title fight on a world class level. Benitez was still an highly active champion who was also a current title holder when Hearns beat him. I'm not saying the Benitez that Hearns beat was better than the one Leonard beat, but that's completely beside the point anyway.
It's about the fact that being dropped by a jab in one fight by an ATG fighter doesn't mean anything to Hearns' win. It was a dominant performance by Hearns on someone who had never been dominated before. Even Leonard had a lot of trouble with Benitez before he gassed and was stopped in the fifteenth round. It was very close and competitive up until the very end. Hearns won just about every single round and out-boxed the boxer easily. Leonard couldn't out-box him, he had to out-fight him. Hearns didn't even try to. He put a clinic on and it was a stunning show.Comment
